Are we really living in an information age? Is there truly a free and open exchange of ideas online? For my part, the answer is no — not even close. To make matters worse, the information I can easily access is often partisan or pushing a mainstream narrative. Then there’s the tactic of “approved” information domination — like when a video is plastered with “information panels,” suggesting to the viewer that the creator is a conspiracy idiot, not smart enough to follow the so-called gospel of consensus science.
Worst of all is censorship, and I’ll use my own experiences to demonstrate why. I chose to address this topic based on the conversation I had for Episode 626. The title says, “Everything You Know Is Wrong,” and that’s not as over the top as it might sound. In my view, this is not an age of information — it’s an age of deception. And the full control of information is what makes it possible. Without access to real information, false ideas survive, and new truths never reach the surface. That’s the real cost of censorship.
