It’s our Hallowe’en episode and we’re doing a fun one. Most people are aware of the famous Winchester House and the myths surrounding its builder. The usual story revolves around how Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the fortune made from the Winchester rifle (aka the gun that won the west), was haunted by the spirts of those killed by her families rifles. On the advice of a psychic, Sarah built a sprawling mansion to appease these spirits.
But of course, the vast majority of this story is fabricated or misreported, starting with Sarah’s name. She went by Sally. And that’s literally just the start, get ready, it’s the story of Sally Winchester and the Winchester House.
