Laughter is supposed to be a comforting sound—warm, familiar, a reminder of love and home. But not all laughter is kind. Some laughter drips with something darker, a chilling undercurrent that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
They called her the Giggling Granny. A sweet-faced woman with a gentle Southern drawl, she charmed neighbors, doted on her grandchildren, and had a penchant for romance magazines. But beneath the floral dresses and the grandmotherly smile lay something monstrous. A woman who spun wedding vows into funeral hymns, who turned love into poison.
Nannie Doss wasn’t just a widow—she was a widow many times over. Husbands, children, even her own mother, all fell ill under her roof. And yet, when the authorities finally caught up with her, she never shed a tear. She simply laughed.
