Appointed CEO of BNP Paribas Ireland and Head of Country in April 2015. BNP Paribas currently employs in excess of 600 people in Ireland across multiple Businesses and Regulated Entities. Derek has Executive responsibility for CIB in Ireland, in addition to having oversight of the Group as a whole, particularly in the areas of Regulation, Compliance and Control, Group Representation and Development, Clients and Organisation. He Chairs the Boards of Greenval Insurance, Darnell Re and BNP Paribas Vartry Re. He also serves as a non-executive Director of BNP Paribas Real Estate Ireland, BNP Paribas Fund Administration Services Ireland and the France Ireland Chamber of Commerce. Derek is also currently Chairman of the Federation of International Banks in Ireland and a Board member of the Banking and Payments Federation of Ireland. Prior to taking over as CEO Derek held several senior roles in BNP Paribas Global Markets business in Trading and Sales. Derek graduated from UCD with an Honours Degree in Economics in 1987 and worked as a fixed Income Specialist in a number of Institutions before joining BNP Paribas in 2002.
