DISCLAIMER - I do want to mention that when traveling to a new country I think it’s super important to try and immerse yourself in the language and culture of that country. Obviously in some countries that’s easier to do than others. In Thailand, it was extremely difficult to learn the language especially because they use different alphabet, symbols and it’s also very tonal. That said, we did our best to learn the basic “hello”, “thank you”, “excuse me” and common courtesy for the country. But when communicating and trying to have specific conversations, many times we were forced to do this beyond language, which was extremely insightful and also made me that much more OBSERVANT into body language, gestures, and energy.
