Colin Moriarty says if you can’t afford the $80 price for GTA 6, you should “get a new hobby.” That’s not defending GTA 6 — that’s talking down to the gamers who actually pay for this industry.

I already bought GTA 6 and I’m excited as hell to play it. But being able to afford an $80 game and believing an $80 game is worth the money are two completely different things.

In this video, I call out Colin Moriarty’s GTA 6 take and explain why telling gamers to leave the hobby over the price of Grand Theft Auto VI is so ridiculously out of touch.

This conversation is also much bigger than one comment.

Gamers are watching AAA game prices rise, premium editions climb past $100, physical media disappear, digital licensing become more common, and consumer ownership continue to change. GTA 6 could absolutely end up being worth every penny of its $79.99 price — but Rockstar still has to earn that money.

Consumers are allowed to question value.

You can love GTA 6 and still question $80 games.

You can afford GTA 6 and still decide it isn’t worth $80.

You can wait for a sale and still be a gamer.

And you definitely don’t need somebody in gaming media deciding whether your bank account qualifies you for the hobby.

PlayStation's live-service strategy just took another hit. Horizon Hunters Gathering is reportedly being reworked after negative playtest feedback while Horizon 3 remains years away.

After Concord, Marathon, canceled PlayStation projects and years of chasing live-service games, Sony has me seriously questioning the PS5 generation and why I should care about PS6.

In this video, I go off on Sony's obsession with live-service games and what I think it has cost PlayStation this generation.

Horizon Hunters Gathering is the latest example. Instead of Horizon 3 being the priority, most of Guerrilla Games reportedly spent years focused on this multiplayer project, only for Sony to now rethink the live-service direction.

Then there's Concord. Marathon. The canceled Last of Us Online project. Other PlayStation live-service games that were canceled or reworked. All while longtime PlayStation franchises sit unused and PS5 owners continue waiting for the kind of first-party exclusives that once defined the brand.

And that's where my bigger problem with Sony comes in.

I'm not anti-multiplayer. I'm not anti-digital. I'm not automatically against live-service games.

I'm against companies chasing recurring revenue at the expense of consumer choice and the games their existing audience actually wants.

With Sony pushing harder toward digital gaming and people already talking about PlayStation 6, I think it's fair to ask:

Why should gamers rush to buy a PS6 when Sony still hasn't convinced everyone that it got everything it could out of the PS5 generation?

The leaker says they won’t stop until Rockstar responds, turning this into a much bigger fight over gamer rights, digital preorders, and what we actually own.

New GTA 6 gameplay and alleged map material surfaced online, but the most interesting part of this story isn’t the footage itself. It’s WHY the person claiming responsibility says they leaked it.

Cyberleek has tied the leaks to frustration over GTA 6 launching without a traditional physical disc, digital preorders, preservation, and the gaming industry’s continued move toward digital-only distribution.

I already bought GTA 6 and I’m still incredibly excited to play it. This isn’t about hating Rockstar or being anti-digital. I buy digital games all the time.

The problem is when digital stops being a choice and becomes the ONLY choice.
