Sony apparently found another way to make money from PlayStation gamers. Now Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking to expand its advertising business with brands outside of gaming — and gamers have every reason to question where this is going.

After the push toward digital games, rising prices, PlayStation Plus, live-service monetization and everything else gamers already pay for, does PlayStation really need another revenue stream aimed at its own customers?

Sony has NOT officially announced commercial breaks inside PS5 games, but the company is hiring to grow PlayStation's advertising business, including new brand partnerships and data-driven advertising opportunities.

In this video, I break down what Sony is actually doing, what the job listing says, why this should get the attention of PlayStation fans, and why gamers shouldn't wait until intrusive advertising becomes normalized before asking questions.

Halo Campaign Evolved was supposed to be the comeback Halo needed, but this remake may have exposed an even bigger problem: Halo Studios itself.

After playing it myself, the sales estimates, layoffs, technical problems and fan backlash have me wondering if Xbox needs to take Halo away from Halo Studios.

Halo Campaign Evolved brought Master Chief back with a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, launching across Xbox, PC and PS5 while also being available through Game Pass. But instead of feeling like the clean victory Halo desperately needed, the conversation has quickly shifted to Halo Campaign Evolved sales, Halo Studios layoffs, development problems, bugs, creative decisions and growing frustration from longtime Halo fans.

I played Halo Campaign Evolved myself and came away underwhelmed. In this video, I break down the early sales estimates, the Game Pass argument, the Halo remake’s reception, the missing classic multiplayer experience, the problems surrounding Halo Studios and why I believe the studio itself may be the biggest thing holding the Halo franchise back.

Halo fans have spent years asking Microsoft and Xbox to bring the franchise back to what made Halo great. Campaign Evolved should have been the easiest opportunity imaginable. Instead, we’re once again asking what went wrong and whether Halo Studios can really be trusted with the future of Master Chief.

Nintendo Switch players paid for Aliens: Fireteam Elite Cloud Version. Now they can’t play it anymore.

The servers are gone, there’s no offline version for Switch owners, and the game still works elsewhere.

After all the backlash over PlayStation moving away from physical games, this is exactly why gamers are worried about losing ownership.

Paying full price for temporary access is bullshit.

First PlayStation came under fire over the future of physical games. Now Nintendo has its own game ownership problem after Switch players lost access to a game they paid for.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite Cloud Version is no longer playable on Nintendo Switch after its cloud service shut down. Players who purchased the game can no longer access it, and there’s no offline version available to those Switch owners.

And this goes way beyond one game.

With PlayStation moving away from physical game releases, Xbox expanding further into digital libraries and cloud gaming, and more Nintendo Switch cloud games facing shutdowns, gamers are asking a pretty simple question: what do we actually own anymore?

Nintendo’s latest sales numbers just made PlayStation’s move away from physical games much harder to defend. Sony says digital is what gamers want, but Nintendo is showing there is still a massive market for physical games and consumer choice.
