Walter White had just marked his 52nd birthday when he started realizing that his life was going nowhere. He had a wife and a teenage son, and another one on the way, but was stuck working an unremarkable job at a car wash. He had tried to pursue chemistry and teach at the university, but life had dealt him a different hand. He got diagnosed with lung cancer and everything changed after his diagnosis.
