In The Longest battle Emma Martins chats with people who have gone through a similar life changing situation to her own when Emma caught a virus in 2013 which completely changed her life for ever. 

The virus that Emma caught in Vietnam caused a brain aneurysm which in turn has severely affected Emma’s  eyesight.

In today's The Longest Battle Emma is chatting with Josie Horton who in 1992 got through to the Judo semi finals at the Barcelona Olympic games.  

In May 2016 Josie had to have part of her lower left leg amputated after she was involved in an accident near her home in North London where a bus ran over her leg. After the accident Josie spent time in hospital recovering and through rehabilitation had to get used to using a wheelchair and an artificial leg to get around.

Josie, or Judo Josie as she is known to the pupils at the school where she teaches Judo, was so determined to get back to school as soon as possible and within six months of her accident was back teaching her pupils Judo again.

Through The Longest Battle with Josie Horton, Emma finds out from Josie  about what life was like before the accident, how much Josie can  remember from that night when she was run over by a bus, all about her rehabilitation and getting used to her first artificial leg, what motivates Josie and finally what advice she would give to someone else going through a similar life changing situation.
