Pokemon Go: The POI map is typically updated once per day. We commonly call this “The sync”. Historically the cutoff time has been around noon or ~2 hours prior to the sync. All waypoint approved prior to the cutoff will become stops if eligible at 1:50pm, now this has been known to be delayed about 30-ish minutes from time to time. 

Ingress now also uses a daily “sync” system versus the immediate addition to the game board when a nomination is approved. This sync typically occurs around 6:15pm and seems to be based on the UTC. What’s interesting, is the cutoff time for Ingress is like 12:02pm

Other Niantic games seem to follow a similar pattern to PoGo with their own cutoff times.

Don’t be afraid to have google translate open for noms not in your language,
