Do you remember seeing a Child and Family Health Nurse after your bub was born? You might have known them as a Community Nurse, who set you up in your Mother's groups and did checks on bubs development.
This is a service we are so incredibly lucky to have access to in Australia, and this week we are joined by Jess Rasho, a Child and Family Health Nurse and Mother of two! Jess tells us all about the role of a CFHN and how they are able to support families in a huge range of ways, ones that we didn't even know about!
This is a must listen for anyone currently pregnant or with young children, it's packed full of information about local support services that could save you money and time if you ever need them.
Here are some additional support services you might not have known a CFHN can provide:
- Setting you up with discreet support in domestic violence situations
- Organising migrant resources for families who speak little or no English
- Linking up with services to provide goods for baby if you are under financial hardship
- Some child and family health centres have qualified IBCLC's who can give you breastfeeding support and advice for free
Jess also shared with us her birth stories, including her vaginal delivery of her 4.8kg son!! Who doesn't love a good birth story?? And wow! This one deserves a gold medal.
Jess has a beautiful business @prettylittleblock.co offering hand cut and hand painted custom wooden block names. The business is currently on hold, but go and give her a follow and stay tuned for when she is back open!
