Do you know what imposter syndrome is?
Many adults struggle with imposter syndrome, which is the feeling that they do not belong or that they lack the skills or ability to teach effectively. It's important to recognize this feeling and take steps to build your self-confidence and mindset. On today’s podcast, we’re discussing how to bust imposter syndrome while teaching reading with educational consultant Aja Mcnair.
This originally aired LIVE on Aja's youtube channel when she invited me to be interviewed for her show- - but I loved this conversation so much that I wanted to re-air it for everyone here to listen to. Now if you want the video version I'll link to the YouTube video so you can watch.
We dive into the "Gap and the Gain" Concept", celebrating the gains you make along the way, how to have a mindset of openness and willingness to learn new things and why this is key to being an effective educator, how reframing your negative thoughts and beliefs about your ability to teach reading will allow you to focus on building your skills and MUCH MORE!
Aja also discusses the "Four C's for Building Confidence": Commitment, Courage, Capability, and Confidence These concepts are interconnected, and each C builds on the previous one to create a well-rounded teacher with a confident teaching style.
If you've ever felt imposter syndrome or are wondering what it is, this episode is a perfect listen. You will find so much inspiration and so many ideas on today's episode!
