It's a question that has been asked by us for years and will continue to for years to come. What is happiness? Is it something we pursue? Or wait for?

My opinion is that happiness is a combination of contentment and perspective; appreciating what you have and doing the things that make you happy. It changes, and varies, based on age cause what makes a 3yr old happy won't necessary make a 33yr old happy. Finding your happiness means finding out who you are.

Whether it is watching a sunset or just a random butterfly flutter by, your happiness begins and ends with you.

How many times have you thought of leaving where you are to go somewhere new and start fresh? Building a new life, amongst new people? I would go to either Norway, Iceland, Denmark or Germany.

But we can't pick and leave just like that as we have our lives built where we currently are. That doesn't mean, however, that we can't start living the life we have always wanted for ourselves; bringing forth the life that already exists in our minds into reality. Being our own reality stone.

It's not even a rhetorical question. I honestly want you to ask yourself and those around you that. What is your favorite dinosaur? When we were kids that was something that would've flew out our mouths instantly. For me it's the T-Rex as one of them.

When or, better yet, why did you kill the inner child in you? Why do we take ourselves so serious?

I challenge you to ask any adult the questions you will ask a child and you'll see their face light up.

When's the last time you tried something new and out of your zone? Something that had your heart racing, something that gave you butterflies in the pit of your stomach. Something you always said no to. For me the something I always said no to was a pickle...yuck. Once it was left in my Subway sandwich accidently, I think, and I tasted it for the first time and knew instantly that I want this in my next burger as well. There have been times when we refused to do/try/taste/experience new or different things based on other persons opinions or even our own willful ignorance. Not saying it is wrong however what is the worse thing that can happen? We either add something new to our lives that's enhanced it at best or we gain experience and first hand knowledge at worse. So go ahead and try that pickle, it may just be the best thing in your life.

Make peace with your past so that it doesn't negatively impact your future. Many times we've heard that but how many times have we taken heed at what it truly means? How many times we've unconsciously hurt people who didn't hurt us? Bled on persons who didn't cut us? Dealing with your past is much more than just forgetting it; it is about debriefing ourselves and getting the the root of the problem so that we won't jeopardize our future. This 6 minute episode barely scrapes the tip of the iceberg but gets the conversation started, but it will be continued soon.

The first word most children hear and learn is no or some variation of it. But they keep doing different things until they get that yes. However, as adults we stop or lose hope after the first no most times. Why though? Why do we give up so easily when we can use no as a next opportunity or new option? Use no as a way to get that yes you need.

Religion, skin color, and money. These are just a few of the things that divide us. Dreams, ambitions, and fears. These are some of our similarities. Let's focus on what makes us the same, the things that unite us. There's already enough at play to pull us apart and keep us fighting each other, and as this is the final episode in the Open Up series I just wanted to do something different. This is something that you and I see everyday and everywhere. The only way we as a people can move forward and conquer space is together and if we can't get it right here, we won't get it right out there.
