In this episode, I talk about what you can do to support your child when a crisis hits. When you think of crisis as it relates to schools, you may think about a school shooting or tragedy that happens during the school day. But a crisis can also be the death of a classmate, teacher, or favorite administrator. Sometimes these events are predictable as in the case with a person battling cancer, but others can be unforeseen such as in the case of a car accident that happens over the weekend.
Nevertheless, parents, you are often in a position to provide a large amount of support to your child when such incidents happen, and to help you be more prepared, I share 3 things you MUST know to support your child when crisis hits. I discuss possible reactions, possible supports, and possible coping strategies, that are all evidence-based. You never know when you will need to use this skill.
