It was a cold, wintry morning on Ahway Island.  Kit Cat was curled up on her favorite spot on the windowsill. Outside, snow sparkled on the rooftops and tree branches. Kit watched her breath fog up the window glass, feeling grateful to be warm and toasty in her cozy apartment. Kit’s human, Marta, had gotten up very early to plow the snow from the streets, and the little black kitty was waiting patiently for Marta to return.

It wasn’t too long before Kit heard the sound of keys jangling and the apartment door opening.  Marta was back! Kit’s ears perked up, she immediately hopped off the windowsill to greet her friend.
