Kevron, an indigenous disability ambassador, and very active community member has produced some unique Christmas gifts inspired by caring for his lizard, Rhango. Among the wares include food for native birds and reindeer, and cards and calendars.

The creations are for sale at the Base Café, where owner Lisa Perry tells us buyers have the chance to meet Kevron - 'a ray of light' - who will be there daily to say g'day. 

Andy reminisces he and Kevron's involvement in Footy for Life.

We hear from Lisa about how COVID lockdown affected hospitality in Alice Springs, and she is working her way towards recovery with flexibility, ingenuity, and by thinking outside the box, keeping community safe along the way.

Rising star from the Arrernte Boxing Academy, 'Iggy' (Ignatius Dooley) visits with the Brekky Team before school, having just returned from Broome where he competed successfully in the Kimberley titles.

Iggy  reveals how he got into boxing and its perks, and where he's headed. Mark reflects on Iggy's development since his very first day at the Boxing Academy, to his feature bouts in the 2022 Steve Satour Memorial Cup in Alice Springs.

The Mayor of Alice Springs, Matt Patterson, updates us about the clean up after the freak storm that ripped through Alice Springs recently, along with the postponement of the next Masters Games, the upcoming Christmas Markets, upgrades to the Pat Gallagher Netball Stadium with management shifting back to ASTC from the NTG, and new councillor, Gavin Morris, has joined the Council. We hear of actions undertaken by ASTC, as part of the NTG's Social Order Response Team (SORT) Plan, to address the rising crime rate, including increasing the police presence with 40 Federal police officers and mounted policeman, and misplaced shopping trolley collection and fines.

Restoration of an iconic 1960s Chrysler Valiant at Charles Darwin University (CDU) in Alice Springs is underway and in the hands of First Nations students at Yirara College. The 10 students, with support of CDU staff and apprentices, have not only transformed the car, but also their automotive skills and workplace credentials as well. The Valiant's revival will culminate in its display at the Pavilion at the Red Centre Nats in September 2023. CDU Automotive lecturer and mentor, Shane Gaghan, joins the Brekky team to tell us more.
