Eleanor Hogan, a local literary non-fiction author whose writing focuses on revisiting history and place, is presenting a workshop at the Library on Friday 30 May as part of NTWF 2025. She visited the Big Brekky to chat about the importance of archives in any historical writing. Libraries and Archives NT will provide an overview of how to use their resources, and she will discuss the challenges that can emerge from encountering historical records and how other writers have tackled these in their writing.

Lots of motions from the ASTC Councillors this month, with the main topics of business around the Public Art Master Plan as well as pausing the Park Master plan due to the issue of divestment. Apologies went out to Geoff Meirs for the Sturt Desert Pea debacle and Councillor Melky was acknowledged for being the longest sitting Councillor, there since 2011. The recycling pods have processed 74000 tons already, while the kerbside recycling is still to be put into action.

Today on 8CCC’s Big Brekky, Minister for Local Government and Member for Barkly, the Hon Steve Edgington, joins Shauna Upton to respond to concerns raised by Barkly Regional Council Mayor Sid Vashist earlier this week.

Minister Edgington discusses proposed amendments to the Local Government Act 2019, including reforms to councillor conduct, procurement processes, and electoral regulations. He also addresses the Northern Territory Government’s position on the possible de-amalgamation of large regional councils — including Barkly — and encourages locals to participate in today’s public consultation session in Tennant Creek at 2pm.

This year's Big Day Out in Harmony headliner L-FRESH the LION caught up with Kate Lyons-Dawson on the Big Brekky Show. Hailing from South West Sydney to Punjabi immigrant parents, his music blends personal narratives with the Sikh values his parents taught him of equality and purpose, carving out a space for diasporic identity within the global hip-hop movement. Since he was at our Wide Open Space festival in 2015, L has been chosen to represent the Australian Hip Hop scene at 2023 SummerStage Festival in Central Park, New York, played with Elton John and generally just forged his own style in his unique voice.

Musician and poet Emma Trenordan spoke with Big Brekky about her MusicNT's Live on the Lawn set this Wednesday.
