On Andy's Big Brekky we hear about an upcoming opportunity for NT writers; the Varuna Residential Fellowship for NT Writers & Illustrators. Veechi Stuart from Varuna, and Mparntwe-based writer Emma Trenordan, who was last year's online residency recipient, join the show to tell us more.

The Fellowship program is presented in partnership with Varuna, the National Writers’ House, and the Northern Territory Government through Arts NT. Nine fellowships are available; three residency fellowships and six virtual fellowships. Participants will be selected from the Top End and Central Desert regions and one fellowship place will be reserved for a First Nations writer. Applications open in July and close in September, and residency fellowships will be offered from January to March in 2024.

Originally the home of writers Eleanor Dark and Dr Eric Dark, the house and gardens of Varuna were gifted to the Australian public in 1989 by their son, Mick Dark, to be used as a retreat for writers.
