  • Intersection: New Year’s Resolutions; Orlando’s Year In Sports; EM & Billy Wright
    The new year is right around the corner- and for some people that means a whole new set of goals.
    New Year’s resolutions can be easy to make… but sometimes they’re hard to keep. As we say goodbye to 2016 and ring in the new year- we want to hear your new year’s resolutions- we’re taking your calls.
    We’ll be joined by some experts too- a life coach, a psychologist and a personal trainer. We’ll talk about how to set goals, how to stick to them, and the science behind why some resolutions don’t last.
    Then we ask Associated Press sports reporter Terrance Harris to take us through the sporting highlights from 2016, and look ahead to next year. Could 2017 be the year the Magic make the playoffs?
    And looking back at Central Florida’s music scene in 2016, we’ll have an encore performance from a EM and Billy Wright, who performed on Intersection for a live audience back in May.

  • Intersection: Joshua Johnson; Diane Rehm;
    Joshua Johnson is the host of 1A, NPR’s new show that kicks off next week, picking up where Diane Rehm left off.
    Johnson says he grew up listening to the Diane Rehm show and today he joins us for a conversation about building on the legacy of her show- reaching out to new audiences and tackling topics from race to pop culture. With the dust settling from a divisive presidential election, Johnson says he wants to engage listeners in conversations about politics with more light than heat.
    The Diane Rehm show may have ended, but the show’s iconic host isn’t stepping away from the microphone just yet. We revisit a conversation with Diane Rehm recorded live at Orlando’s Bob Carr Theater in June, where she reflects on her storied career in broadcasting and looks ahead to the next chapter.
    And if you’ve ever wondered about the people Orlando’s streets are named after- many of the answers lie in the city’s Greenwood Cemetery. 90.7’s Crystal Chavez takes a guided tour of the historic cemetery with Sexton Don Price.

  • Intersection: Being Santa; Holiday Reading; Christmas Carols
    Just one day left before Christmas, and for some parents that means a last opportunity for their kids to get a photo with Santa.
    It turns out there’s more to playing Santa at a mall or a theme park than a white beard, a booming voice and a red suit. We talk to Orlando area Santa David Eakin, who’s heard the wishlists of thousands of kids since he first donned the suit in the early ’90s. He talks about the toy trends, tricky questions and what keeps him coming back to the role year after year.
    Then- the holidays is a good time to get caught up on some of the reading you may have missed in 2016. Winter Park Librarian Brittany Reinholt joins us to run through some of her favorite reads from the last year, and what she wants to read over the winter break. And- the library’s become much more than just a place for books. We talk about the overlap between technology and the printed page.
    And, a quartet of carolers serenade us with some Christmas Classics. The Caroling Company dress like they’ve stepped out of the pages of a Charles Dickens novel, but their repertoire includes modern Holiday favorites too.
