90s Noise

In this nostalgic episode of '90s Noise, your hosts Ashley and April dive into the festive spirit as we discuss the 1996 Christmas movie, "Jingle All The Way." Ashley, who surprisingly just watched the movie for the very first time, shares her thoughts on Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance and the film's appeal, which she believes might have been geared more towards a male audience.

We also reminisce about our conversation earlier this year with the film's director, Brian Levant, and how he enjoyed working on the project, especially in developing the Turbo Man toy.

Tune in for a trip down memory lane as we unpack one of the '90s holiday classics with humor and insight discussing all things Christmas from last minute shopping trips, to our memories of Santa Claus, to the wonder that is the 'Mall of America', and so much more.

We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This week we have a special BONUS episode! For this Holiday season, we are diving head first into the 1992 Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen classic, TO GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE WE GO.

Taking with a grain of salt the fact that this was their first starring "movie" and the girls were only about six years old - we come at this with an open mind and the spirit of Christmas.

1993 seemed to be the year that was never ending - but we are finally wrapping it up with a bow just in time for the end of the year. Like all of our recaps we go back over what movies may cause Ashley to cut all known ties with Aprill over. JUST KIDDING, well, sort of. We discuss the episodes that gave us the best memories and what we look forward to next year. This means Season 2 is coming to end as well, but we will be back next year with bigger and better things as we move into 1994!

We like to keep these short and simple but we are glad you are along for the ride! Stick around to the end as we pop out our trivia games for a little more fun as we quiz each other on our 90s pop culture knowledge.

This week we venture into the world of Robin Williams and one of his most hilarious roles from the 90s -- MRS. DOUBTFIRE .

We have a lot to discuss on this one as it was a huge favorite for one of us growing up. We go into our favorite moments and how we perceived this film as a kid to how it has changed our outlook on it as an adult.

There's also so much to get into on what we would have loved for the studios to do with all of the extra footage they had from Robin Williams and his genius improvs. Like, what would an R rated version of this film look like??

Make sure you listen this week to hear our take on this classic movie of the 90s and let us know what YOUR favorite roles of Robin Williams are.

This week we are motosurfing with the 1993 movie SURF NINJAS. We discuss the surfing or somewhat lack of surfing, the fight scenes and what memories Aprill has from watching the movie growing up.

From California to Patu San from sun and surf to a place where "money can't buy knives" - come on this adventure with us and see if Ashley finally kills Aprill for all the Ninja movies.

Ain't it bitchin'?

What's your favorite 90's Ninja movie? Let us know on our socials.

This week we dive into some of the classic 90s Snacks and Candy we grew up with as a kid. Ashley got us a "mystery box" that we open and divvy up between the two of us for enjoyment. We are only skimming the surface and will have more snack episodes to come but sit back while we enjoy a sugar rush.

Did you have a go to snack when you got home from school in the 90s? Or a favorite Halloween candy you searched for every year? Let us know on our social!

This week we are discussing some classic movies from the Slasher genre of Horror. From the beginning of the HALLOWEEN franchise of 1978 to the SCREAM franchise of 1996 and all the ones that followed after.

Whether you prefer the "villain" you know from the get go type of movies, like Michael Myers in HALLOWEEN, or the keeps you guessing but 98% of the time "always the boyfriend" Ghostface in SCREAM, you get to find out what each of us enjoys.

So check behind the doors, don't answer the phone and if you see a figure standing outside your window - arm yourself - and join us on this horrifying ride.

We also end this episode with a new segment....so listen up and be sure to let us know what you think.

This week we are celebrating another Halloween movie that turns THIRTY YEARS OLD this year!

We are discussing the one and only THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

With one of us having watched it during school to the other never having seen it until THIS YEAR (we'll let you guess which is which or just listen) we talk about what we liked and didn't necessarily care for in this holiday cult classic.

Join us for our visit to Halloween Town with Jack, Zero and the whole gang.

Once upon a midnight dreary

As we ponder weak and weary

Only one thought came to our minds

We have to start in on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

Any of their features

You're Invited, Adventures Of and their movies galore

So sit back and enjoy the ride

Cause if it's up to me

Or me

You'll RSVP

And with Halloween around the corner, what better way than to jump into DOUBLE, DOUBLE TOIL AND TROUBLE. While we know this was technically their "second" movie, it came out in 1993 (HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY) and it is the perfect season to discuss this classic title of theirs.

While there are numerous Mary-Kate Olsen, and Ashley Olsen rewatch podcasts out there, we are NOT going to turn solely into that. We do love those other podcasts but our focus will still be on the 90s itself and how these two power-house girls (at the time) made an impact on our lives. We hope you enjoy CHAPTER ONE
