Why Not?

#95 Is BMI the be all and end all when it comes to your health?

Listen Later

BMI has been around for a long time

For those of you who don't know what it is it stands for "Body Mass Index".  it is taken by measuring your weight against your height and these results detimine whether you are considered at a "healthy" weight for your height.

It does however have some problems as humans are not always so black and white

Today I talk about these differences

I talk about how weight doesn't account for muscle mass

How by the BMI scale an athlete can be considered in the obsese catagory

That weight isn't always going to be the cause of health issues

How you should not let that deter you from continuing your fitness journey

Other ways to track your progress and how you may be surprised by the difference you see using these methods

How certain companies also use BMI as a way to sell you into a plan

How you can't tell someones weight by looking at them

The main take away I want people to get from this is that you are more than a number on the scale and once your quality of life is not suffering because of that number you do not let that number control your life/how you feel
