Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora recently issued a reminder that ‘many winter illnesses are still circulating in our communities’, including Influenza A.

The latest outbreak is a highly infectious variant of influenza called subclade K - increasing the number of people who develop more severe illness and increasing pressure on the health system.

Meanwhile, AI regulation and datacentre building have become hot topics due to the building of Aotearoa’s first datacentre in Southland with parties scrambling to compete in resolutions and regulations. Furthermore, the supermarket duopoly has become a target of Green Party policy, with Labour set to announce their own policy on the subject in the coming weeks.
