Switching things up a bit, this conversation was about a less talked about topic. TayJordan sat down with Tay Carter of JTX Trans. Tay started a trucking dispatch provider company at the onslaught of the pandemic. Just 6 months later, JTX is dispatching for 40 trucks. He is former collegiate athlete, and Business Major, who had no knowledge of the trucking business before taking a job as a Broker Agent, directly after college. Entrepreneurship and ownership is essential more today than it's ever been. Porsha Edmun is no stranger to starting businesses and stepping out on faith while maintaining a 9 to 5. She is a Construction Analyst/Estimator for FEMA, licensed insurance adjuster and notary. She runs a successful real estate company in Dallas, Texas and shes recently emerged herself into building new builds. Edmun also runs a vending machine business with her siblings. In this episode she dives into her journey and of course drops some valuable gems about leveraging a clean criminal record, building partnerships and buying/developing land. As always we get into some "Tay Fun stuff" and talk some hoops towards the end of the show. If you are curious about new construction, land, wholesaling and entrepreneurship while working full time, then this is an episode you definitely want to tap into.

Professional Athletes make more money in a couple years than what many people are able to accumulate in the course of a lifetime. The quick walk into cash can prove to be detrimental if the athlete fails to address previous financial trauma and illiteracy. Approximately 78% of NFL players are broke just less than 2 years post retirement, while 68% of ex NBA players are broke 5 years removed from the league. Taryn Bushrod, is committed to positively changing those numbers, as the "Financial Therapist." This young, intelligent Queen is a Baltimore native with a background in financial management and consumer marketing. She helps professional athletes improve their relationship with money. With her knowledge, along with her life experiences she is able to help athletes identify the triggers of their spending habits so that they can take control of their finances and create a life that doesn’t break the bank.

Have you ever wondered why you don't see a lot of Black Play by Play announcers calling the games in your favorite sports? Did you ever notice that most representation in sports media from Blacks are either former players or mainly in studio guys, working as analysts? Where are all the Black Journalists that trained for the job and didn't play pro sports? Did you know that of the 130 radio play-by-play announcers who serve each of the Football Bowl Subdivision programs, not a single one is African-American? Well in this episode I sat down with Chris Lewis. He is a talented, young, Black Sports Broadcaster, who currently serves as the "Voice of Boise State's Athletics." Check out this interview as he discuss his journey, some professional tips and the industry from his perspective.
Please note, this episode was recorded via zoom and there is some freezing that takes place in the audio.
