The melting ice of the Arctic Circle is one, if not the greatest tell-tale signs of Global Warming, of a crisis in Climate. It leads to an entire downstream collapse of the eco-system, dying polar bears, marine life, rising sea levels threatening coasts all over the world and more. Millions of tons of multi-million-year ice are breaking off and floating into the ocean at such a speed that computer modeling cannot keep up with it.
Dr. Leslie Field, MIT and UC Berkeley-trained materials scientist, set out to reverse this trend. This interview is a description of what she has discovered and accomplished. It is an interview you do not want to miss.
Social Activism in business is gaining new ground again as the injustices in society and damage being routinely done to our environment along with economic disparities have become utterly transparent to the point of embarrassment. Thankfully, the space of social enterprise is picking up the ball here and running with it, offering change, if not transformation in many sectors of society.
But there's someone who started this long ago, the marriage of social change and business, today's guest, activist & environmentalist, David Fenton.
In 1982, after having been a photo-journalist, hippie and with ties to the major movers and shakers of the 1960's, David took the spirit of his values and activism and shaped it into a company that had non-profits as its clients and people blowing the whistle on society's ills, from the chemicalization of apples while calling them healthy and his mounting a campaign that reached the Supreme Court to protect children--and everyone--from carcinogenic sprays on apples, to blowing the whistle on the ever-growing nuclear arsenal and producing a film about that.
The list goes on---from helping to build MoveOn.org to helping Nelson Mandela win the Presidency in South Africa. David's life reads like an extraordinary adventure novel of a hero doing good and taking down the bad guys, with some humor and cheer, one by one.
In this interview, David takes us for a tour to meet the stars of the times, Abby Hoffman and others, and it's interesting as much as it provides some historical documentation of a time from which today, we can take a few pages, of not chapters from to inform and guide needed actions today.
David's work has been a model for us here at A Better World.

It is a tragic story yet one full of inspiration & hope. Former journalist, Harvard Law School-trained, human rights attorney Steven Donziger visited the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador with a group of colleagues and were alarmed to see the human and environmental damage done by one of the world's largest corporations, Chevron while drilling oil wells and irresponsibly letting the contaminants enter the land and water supply of the entire area, an area where indigenous people have been living for generations.
Appalled by what he saw, he and colleagues took up the indigenous people's cause and initiated litigation against Chevron for the damage and were awarded 9.5 billion dollars, but which the people never collected because Chevron has been fighting, for 27 years, to protect themselves, and in so doing, have mounted a case against Steven Donziger himself.
The case against Chevron has been won and a settlement awarded. But they are fighting to keep from having to pay and the humiliation they would suffer by losing to Native Peoples of the Amazon who they thought they could simply ignore and get away with exploiting this precious and sacred land.
This interview is with Steven, days before he is to go before a judge in this specious and completely frivolous case against him, further evidence of how our justice system is two-tiered and too frequently serves the corporate elite and not the average American.
If you would like to help by donating any amount to Steven Donziger's legal fund, any amount would help. Go to: www.donzigerdefense.com.
To 'attend' the hearing virtually, currently scheduled for Nov. 9, 10am EDT, call 888 363-4734, code: 4645450.
Please forward this interview to your colleagues and friends to raise awareness about what is going on in the Amazon and in our judicial system, in dire need of reform.

Glenn Aparicio Parry is an author and scholar, focusing largely on American Indigenous culture and examining its commonly unknown though significant influence on the original thinking, Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Parry's work goes far beyond this and into the depth of what is a Native articulation of mathematics, sacred geometry, governance, eco-systems and Physics.
In his most recent book, Parry parries with the political phenomenon of Trump, the diminishing of America's soul and the crying need to make America, not so much great, but sacred again.
Tune into Mitchell's in-depth dialogue with Glenn which will make you think, laugh, possibly cry, but come back home with a sense of inspiration and hope.

100% Fossil Fuel-Free in Hawaii by 2045!
In his own words: I am a Dutch-born entrepreneur and clean energy visionary who has dedicated the past decade of my career to the research, development, advocacy and implementation of renewable energy sources in my adopted home of Hawaii. More recently, I have been a leading global advocate for space exploration as the Chairman of the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems and the founder of the International MoonBase Alliance, a group dedicated to building the first colony on the moon. I spent my early career in Japan as a video game developer and publisher, gaining distinction for producing the country’s first major role-playing game, The Black Onyx. I then went on to revolutionize the video game industry by securing the rights for the blockbuster Tetris, which 30 years later remains a bestseller and global icon of gaming culture. Follow me on my journey to create a world in which humanity and nature can live in harmony. https://blueplanetfoundation.org/
