Tuesday, April 14, 3pm EDT:  Today’s featured film on Progressive Film Hour is Can’t Stop the Water,  a film about Climate Change refugees right here in our own country: they are a Native American tribe and they are in the New Orleans area.

 Julie Koppel Maldonado obtained her doctorate in Anthropology from American University in 2014. Her doctoral research focused on the experiences of environmental change and displacement in tribal communities in coastal Louisiana. 

Chief Albert P. Naquin is the Traditional Chief of the Isle de Jean Charles Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw, located in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Chief  He has been the chief since 1997.

Wednesday, April 8, 6pm EDT:  Mitchell has invited back environmentalist, M.I.T. trained engineer, author, popular speaker, Matthew Stein, to discuss the issues of solar storms, climate change, emergency disruptions and what to do about them.  Mitchell and Matt will also discuss safe, green and sustainable building, bearing in mind the ever-changing landscape of our earth at this point in time and climate change.

Matt has been a guest numerous times on Coast-to-Coast and other national TV and Radio shows, and is for the second time on A Better World Radio with Mitchell Rabin.

Matthew is an environmentalist, bestselling author, MIT trained engineer, and green builder. As an inspiring speaker and visionary thinker, he is dedicated to helping people wake up and unite to shift our collective course from collapse to global renaissance. Mitchell’s guest this evening is a young man whose story was one of two told in the film Oil & Water, David Poritz, about the devastation of large swaths of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest, right in the middle of Indian tribal lands inhabited by the indigenous people for generations.  The film was featured on Progressive Film Hour on March 3, on which Mitchell interviewed one of the filmmakers, Francine Strickwerda and the other young man whose story was told in the film, Hugo Lucitante.

Both controversial and with impassioned, environmentalist emotions set aside, today’s guest, David Poritz, is creating a novel and really desperately needed protection of indigenously-populated lands through the ranking/rating system of safety and what need to be eco-sensitive practices by the oil industry, just as we have fair-trade certification for coffee, diamonds and other commodities often originating in the highly-exploited “Global South”.

Wednesday, March 11, 6pm EDT: The Urban Farming Movement is spreading throughout the country. From abandoned lots to rooftops and everything in between, people are using space for local food growing and business developing.  The film "Growing Cities" is about two young guys, Dan Susman and Andrew Monbouquette, drove across the country with camera in hand and met with groups of people 'in action' about feeding people in what are called "urban food deserrts" with good, healthy, live food.  It's inspiring.

Joining Mitchell today are guests Dan Susman, director/producer and Brent Lubbert, co-producer and production coordinator, discussing the adventure and the essence of the film, as well as the Movement they witnessed first-hand in urban farming across the country.
