You can love a movie and think it's stupid - and other conversations about this 1985 gem starring Tim Curry and some other people but it doesn't really matter because...Tim. Curry.

Another 1985 and unsurprisingly it stars some Muppet friends from Sesame Street.  It's a sweet nostalgic favorite that shows the beauty of diversity, found families, and friendship...with some pretty awesome songs thrown in for good measure.

It's about time.  Hard to believe I'm 175 episodes in and just now talking about this rewatchable gem.  And it's not JUST because of Heath Ledger.  I wax nostalgic for a bit too long in the episode, but I just couldn't help it.  "It's a lance!  Hello!"

"Red rover red rover, send ART right over."

In today's conversation we discuss the 1989 dark comedy The 'Burbs starring Tom Hanks in his most Tom Hankiest and the joy that was a young Corey Feldman.

Episode 172 | A Conversation About Books

The A Bit of Fun with Emily podcast | https://pod.link/1570546847 | Subscribe today!

The Weirdos are on the pod today to talk books we wish we could read again for the first time.  It's a little more nuanced than we expected...we also had some detours into Twilight and Harry Potter as a group of librarians will naturally do.

Is there a book you wish you could re-read again for the first time?  To experience it brand new all over again?

Episode 171 | Enemy Mine (1985)

What a wild movie to start the year out with!  It has aliens.  Dennis Quaid.  A nonsensical mining plot.  Death by meteors.  And a LOT of movie stills with the two main characters just staring at each other.  A few weeks ago, someone told me I have questionable taste in movies.  I agree...without shame.  See exhibit A.

We're back from a short holiday break with a fun recap of some of my favorite pop culture binges / reads / listens of 2023. There's also a short conversation about my "not" resolutions for the new year, plans for the future, and about my inability to do multiple things at one time...successfully at least.

Episode 169 | A "Marvel"ous Conversation with some Weirdos

I'm not entirely sure how we've made it through this many episodes without talking about Marvel, but here we are...it's time.  And really the Weirdos only stopped by to talk Marvel so that we could talk about Loki.  Because Tom Hiddleston forever.

Episode 168 | Teen Wolf (1985)

"There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese."

Is Coach Finstock the worst coach ever?  Or maybe the best?  It's hard to tell, but he sure does make an impact in this particular 80s teen comedy.
