  • A Book and a Chat with Derek Newark aka Nemo James
Derek dreamt of becoming a professional musician from the first time he picked up a guitar following a talent contest disaster. Thought of by his friends as being the person most likely to make the big time he turned professional but was continually side tracked from stardom by the need to earn a living from music.
His journey takes him all over the world from private gigs for the rich and famous to the roughest pubs. Starting in the late sixties when heavy rock was born, through to the 1980′s and 90′s when discos and electronics decimated live music in dance halls.
An amusing and heartrending story of perseverance showing how the road to success can lead us down the strangest of paths.

  • A Book and a Chat with David W. Huffstetler
Educated in Dallas, North Carolina, David Huffstetler holds degrees in Engineering and Business Administration. He has worked in the area of human relations and spent fourteen years weaving through the maze of politics, including participating in a Federal Law suit as Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Commission, with a sitting governor over issues of separation of powers. David has served on Boards of Directors for numerous professional organizations including Crime Stoppers, SC Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, SC Safety Council, the SC Fire Academy, and the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Workers’ Compensation.  He has advised governors and legislators on matters of public policy and legislation.  His wealth of experience is broad and brings deep insight to his writing.
David’s work as a senior manager with a major industrial concern took him to international venues and exposures that helped feed his urge to write Disposable People, a dramatic expose of the working conditions and politics that engulf undocumented workers. Disposable People is a top-ten “Suggested Book” at Tufts University in Boston, MA
He turned the frustrations and rejection that plagues thousands of yet-to-be-published authors into the heralded mystery/thriller Blood on the Pen, with a serial killer disposing of literary agents.  David, an avid history buff, led him to write Dead in Utah, the story of Joe Hill, the controversial musician and union organizer accused of a double murder in 1914.
His books receive praise from mystery readers across the globe.

  • A Book and a Chat with U.L. Harper
Native to Long Beach U.L. Harper attended Poly High School and then Cypress Community College where he became Editor In Chief of the Cypress Chronicle (in the good ol' days).
Currently, U.L. is an after-school program Site Director in Long Beach, California. Over one hundred students attend his program. Aside from this, the past saw him as a corporate manager. Earlier than that he worked as a journalist for a now defunct news agency in Los Alamitos, California. Newspapers is part of his writing background but he also dabbled in poetry. His poetry is published in The Body Politic chapbooks. His first work of fiction is The Flesh Statue, first published in 2005 and rereleased in 2009 with a new cover and smaller page count.
He performs literature at shows with the U.L. Harper Book Parade. The U.L. Harper Book Parade is a list of musicians and artists performing at events to help promote The Flesh Statue. In many ways it's simply an innovative book reading. Contact U.L. Harper if you want to be part of the book parade.
But if one were to examine fully the writing career of U.L. they'd find that he wrote a story in fourth grade about a boy who had to vacuum up somebody elses bodily functions. This earned U.L. a conferance with his teacher and an awkward talk with his mother at home. Later in life U.L. would also write a poem so visceral that he would not be allowed into his friends home. (comment "Hello, Langley" on any post on this sites blog page and earn two points in the blogger blog contest)
The working title for his upcoming novel is Once Human, Now Food. And it's not a vampire or werewolf novel.
