First, The plaintiff dated the defendant, who was pregnant with another man’s child. They got engaged, but he claims the defendant cheated on her while he was in prison. He’s suing for the value of an engagement ring. The defendant says she started using drugs because the plaintiff was also addicted, but then her young kids got taken away. She’s countersuing for unreturned property.

Then, The plaintiff grew up without a father figure and became involved in gangs and drugs. He dated the defendant and recently found out she has a child not long after they stopped seeing each other. He’s petitioning the court for a paternity test. The defendant says the plaintiff disappeared after they started seeing each other, and then she got pregnant. She feels confident the plaintiff is the father.
