After 26-odd jobs and moving from upstate New York to Arizona to attend Arizona State University, Steve was putting himself through school with a goal of getting into management at UPS. Someone told him he should get into real estate. He went to real estate school and sold a house his second day, another house the next week, and it was the easiest thing in the world! Until interest rates rose dramatically, and he had to learn new skills to help make homes affordable for his clients.
It takes a different mindset to reach growth: that of building a business. You can’t have an independent contractor mindset. Similar to Stephen Covey’s concept of beginning with the end in mind, I went from dependent, to independent, and then to interdependence. I had a broker who was my mentor who taught me how to evaluate investments, return on investments, and how to help people invest. I got started in helping other people find wealth, especially people back in New York to gain from Arizona’s growth.
