With our last week of school starting, we can’t stop thinking about SUMMER. We both have things like jobs, summer homework, and all those other little things that we have to do, but we’re mostly super excited for this break from school.

If you’re someone who feels really unmotivated and lazy during the summer, this episode is for you. We gave some great tips for making the most out of this break, like making your bed every morning. Happy pride month from us at A Coming of Age Movie! If you didn’t know, Julia is bisexual and took this episode to talk to you all about what pride month means to her. She talked about her coming out stories, how she feels about representation in the media, and her opinions on different stereotypes and issues in the community.

She also got a little deep and talked about the history and development of the LGBTQIA+ community, and why it’s so important to educate yourself. (“Privilege is learning your history in a history class, while mine is an elective”). Julia hopes that anyone who may have negative or unsure feelings toward the LGBTQIA+ community finishes this episode with a better understanding. Happy pride month to all!

This week, we had the crazy opportunity of meeting Chahak Pahwa, all the way from India. Chahak is the founder and president of GirlSTEMPowered, an organization that encourages young girls to embrace their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math (and she just graduated high school!)

We had a great time hearing about her journey with the organization, future plans, and how she’s overcome obstacles being a female in a male dominated field. We also got to hear about her experience applying to college as an international student during a global pandemic!

Obviously, we’re both HUGE believers that girls should pursue anything they feel passionate about, so it was an honor to have Chahak on. We hope you finish this episode feeling like you can overcome anything to achieve your goals.

This week, ACOAM had a crossover episode with SevenSuperGirls. We had the privilege of speaking with Kaelyn Wilkins, the former Wednesday spot on the collaborative, 10 million subscriber, channel.

Aside from being every 8-12 year old’s idol in the 2010s, Kaelyn has grown her own Youtube channel and currently has 1.34 million subscribers with 16 million views on her top video! (It’s an ASMR video. She’s practically a pro ASMRtist)

We had a great time talking about her growth online, where she’s been since SSG, and where she plans to go. We also laughed wayyy too much about gaming channels, self-tape auditions, and blue walls. BTW, Kaelyn sends a formal apology to everyone who painted their walls blue because of her (I’m part of “everyone”)
