Today, we’re leaving the time machine parked and having a heart-to-heart. I’m opening up about the challenge of keeping this podcast daily, possible changes to the show, and the bigger dream behind Nostalgic Ways: building a brand, moving to Florida, and becoming a full-time content creator while being present for my wife and kids.
I’m also sharing a little about the loss, fresh starts, and faith that have shaped these last two years. It’s a conversation about chasing more while learning to appreciate the life happening right now—and why the next chapter of this show may bring more personal stories and shared trips down memory lane.
Take ten minutes, escape from today, and come with me as we take a step back… a step back in time.

Hop in the time machine — we’re heading back to October 5th! ⏰📼
Today’s trip takes us through the heart of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, including an absolutely STACKED day at the movies in 2001 when Training Day, Serendipity, Joy Ride, and Max Keeble’s Big Move all hit theaters on the same day.
We’re also talking classic gaming, Dragon Ball Z, a little baseball history, and those small pieces of the past that somehow stick with us decades later.
Then, Joey’s Final Thought gets a little deeper: What if the ordinary moments you’re living right now are the ones you’ll someday wish you could experience one more time?
Fire up the time machine. It’s time for your 10-minute escape from today — and a step back in time.
Take ten minutes, escape from today, and come with me as we take a step back… a step back in time.

On this day in 1998, Pokémon Red & Blue arrived in America and helped kick off a phenomenon that would define an entire generation. But today’s trip isn’t stopping there. We’re revisiting classic video games, Saturday morning cartoons, old-school TV, wrestling, and some of the little things that made growing up feel so special.

Do you remember the last time you played outside with your childhood friends?
Probably not.
That's the strange thing about growing up — nobody tells you when you're doing something for the last time.
On Episode 5 of A Daily Dose of Nostalgia, Joey fires up the questionable Temu time machine again and travels through September 25th in pop culture history.
📺 We're heading back to 1965 and the days of Saturday morning cartoons with The Beatles animated series.
🕹️ Then it's off to a 1986 arcade for OutRun — back when five bucks worth of tokens could make you feel rich.
🤼 We're stopping in 1995 during the early days of WCW Monday Nitro, when wrestling fans would flip between WWF and WCW like their lives depended on it.
🎮 Then we're jumping to 2001 for Silent Hill 2 on PlayStation 2 and remembering when choosing a new video game meant staring at the box, reading the back and hoping you didn't just waste fifty bucks.
🎬 Plus, we're heading to the movies in 1992 and remembering when going to the theater meant disappearing from the world for two hours.
And finally, Joey's Final Thought asks a bigger question:
How many things from our childhood happened for the last time without us ever realizing it?
Childhood doesn't end with a countdown.
Sometimes you just go home one night…
and never come back out to play.
Maybe we can't recognize those moments from the past.
But we can pay a little more attention to the ones we're living right now.

The $37 Temu time machine survived another day…so obviously, we're getting back in. 😂
On today's A Daily Dose of Nostalgia, Joey fires up the time machine and travels through September 24th in pop culture history — stopping everywhere from 1991 record stores to the glory days of the PlayStation 2.
And September 24 is absolutely STACKED.
🎵 In 1991, Nirvana's Nevermind, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and A Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory all arrived on the SAME DAY.
🎬 In 1993, Dazed and Confused hit theaters and gave us a movie that's somehow nostalgic for an era that we're now nostalgic about being nostalgic for.
🎮 We're traveling through gaming history with Myst, Ico, Sly Cooper, PlayStation 2 memories and the days when choosing Nintendo, PlayStation or Xbox was basically a personality trait.
📺 Then we're stopping in 2007 for the premieres of The Big Bang Theory and Chuck — back when television still felt like an appointment.
Along the way, we're talking record stores, CD booklets, tube TVs, coming home from school, old video games and why some of the memories we miss most weren't major moments at all.
Then it's time for Joey's Final Thought:
Maybe the good old days don't feel like the good old days while we're living them.
Sometimes they're just ordinary Tuesdays.
So don't spend your whole life waiting for something worth remembering.
Sometimes, you're already living it.

I just finished watching Back to the Future, and it got me thinking…
Could I buy a time machine on Temu?
Turns out, you can. 😂
On today's A Daily Dose of Nostalgia, Joey unboxes a highly questionable $37 time machine and attempts to take us back through September 23rd in pop culture history.
And September 23 is STACKED.
📺 Boy Meets World premiered on September 23, 1993, introducing us to Cory Matthews, Topanga, Shawn and one of the greatest television teachers of all time: Mr. Feeny.
🚀 We're traveling back to 1962 for the premiere of The Jetsons and asking the important question: It's 2026…where the hell is our Rosie the Robot?
🎮 September 23, 1993 also brought Sonic CD, along with the introductions of Amy Rose and Metal Sonic.
🍟 And somehow, Ronald McDonald had his own Sega Genesis game — because '90s McDonald's was basically its own cinematic universe.
🎵 Plus, we're celebrating the birthdays of Bruce Springsteen and Ray Charles and talking about why music might be the closest thing we actually have to a time machine.
Then we return to 2026 for Joey's Final Thought:
Maybe if we really had a time machine, we wouldn't use it to change history.
Maybe we'd just use it to experience one completely ordinary day from our childhood again.
Because nobody taps you on the shoulder in the moment and says:
"Pay attention. You're going to miss this."
Take ten minutes, buckle up and come take a trip back in time.

What if you made $80,000 a year back when rent was $500, a tank of gas was twenty bucks, and $5 Footlongs still existed?
You were basically a millionaire. 😂
On today's Daily Dose of Nostalgia, Joey takes a trip back to a time when twenty bucks actually felt like twenty bucks, Friday night television was an event, and shows like Boy Meets World and Doug somehow managed to entertain us while teaching us a few things about growing up.
Then we're jumping into September 22nd in nostalgia history — and this date is absolutely STACKED.
📺 Full House, Family Matters, Friends, Family Ties, Baywatch, Lost and more all share September 22 connections.
🎬 We're heading back to 1995 for Se7en and Empire Records.
🎮 We're remembering Rayman, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and WCW Mayhem.
🎵 Plus, we look back at the first Farm Aid and some music history from The Supremes.
And we finish today's episode with the debut of a new recurring segment:
Joey's Final Thought.
Because maybe nostalgia isn't really about missing old TV shows, video games or cheap gas.
Maybe we're missing the version of ourselves that existed when those things were around.
You don't have to live in the past to visit it every once in a while.
Sometimes ten minutes there is exactly what you needed.
