Those of you who are married recall for a moment the days leading up to your wedding and then that special day itself. There’s nothing quite like it. The anticipation, the overwhelming joy and excitement! The Lord thought it all up. He gave us marriage to be enjoyed and as a portrait of His relationship with His bride- the church. We’ve been in the Song of Solomon lately and we’ll focus today on the great anticipation of the wedding, for Solomon and the Shulamite woman.

But God’s way does, and in His Word He describes it for us. Those of you who are engaged, or in a serious dating relationship will no doubt be able to relate to the feelings of the Shulamite woman expressed in the passage before us. Her strong desire is to be with Solomon, but she knows it’s important to reserve physical intimacy for marriage.
