In this Pentecost Sunday episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, I read and reflect on my father’s sermon, “Will You Jeer or Testify.”
Grounded in Romans 8 and Acts 2, this message explores the deep groaning we experience in a broken world—and the powerful hope we are given through the Holy Spirit. Even when life feels overwhelming, when we don’t know what to pray or how to move forward, we are not alone. The Spirit intercedes for us, connects us, and reminds us that helplessness does not have to lead to hopelessness.
In my reflection, I share how these words still ring true today, what it means to stay hopeful in difficult times, and even a personal story about being a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan as a picture of enduring hope.
Whether you’re feeling weary, searching for peace, or simply needing a reminder that you are connected to something greater, this episode invites you to pause, reflect, and let the Holy Spirit meet you where you are.
In this new season of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, I continue the conversation with my father through one of his sermons, this episode was originally delivered on the Seventh Sunday of Easter, May 17, 2015.
We begin with Scripture readings from Ephesians 1:15–23 and Luke 24:44–53, reflecting on Christ’s ascension and His final instructions to the disciples. The sermon, “Repentance and Forgiveness,” reminds us of the simplicity and power of the Gospel message: that through Christ’s suffering and resurrection, repentance and forgiveness are offered to all.
Through my father’s words, we are challenged to examine our hearts—what we are holding onto, where we resist forgiveness, and how unrepented sin and bitterness can weigh us down. I then share my own personal reflections on forgiveness, the struggle to let go of past hurt, and the freedom that comes when we do.
This episode is a heartfelt reminder that repentance is not just about acknowledging our sins—it’s about releasing them, forgiving others, forgiving ourselves, and opening our hearts to the love God has for us.
If you’ve ever struggled with letting go, this message is for you.
Thank you for joining me on this journey of faith.
In this deeply personal bonus episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, I share the eulogy I wrote for my father at his funeral.
These words were written in the middle of grief, love, gratitude, and heartbreak — an attempt to honor the man whose faith, wisdom, and sermons continue to shape my life today.
This episode is not only a reflection on loss, but also on legacy, family, faith, and the lasting impact of a life devoted to God and to others.
For anyone who has loved deeply and experienced loss, I hope this episode reminds you that love continues long after goodbye.
In this special bonus episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, I share the story behind how this podcast began.
What started as revisiting my father’s old sermons during a difficult season of life slowly became something much deeper — a way to reconnect with faith, healing, purpose, and the relationship I still carry with my father through his words.
This episode is more personal than usual as I reflect on burnout, grief, uncertainty, and how God can meet us even in the seasons where we feel lost.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
In this episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, we explore one of the most central and powerful themes of our faith: love.
Through readings from 1 John 5:1-6 and the Gospel of John, 15:9-17, we are reminded of a simple yet profound truth—God is love. In his sermon, “Love’s Source, Love’s Destination,” my father uses the imagery of a great river to help us understand where love begins and where it leads. Just as the Mississippi flows from a small source and grows into something vast and far-reaching, so too does love begin with God and flow through us into the world.
This episode reflects on what it means to remain in that flow of love—through faith, obedience, and the calling to love one another as Christ loves us.
In my reflection, I share personal memories of my parents, the lasting impact of generational love, and how even small moments of choosing love can ripple outward in ways we may never fully see. I also reflect on how love shapes our patience, our relationships, and the legacy we leave behind.
As this episode closes out the season, it serves as both a reminder and an invitation:
Thank you for being part of this journey. 💛
In this episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, we reflect on the 5th Sunday of Easter through two powerful and contrasting stories.
We begin with the celebration of King David in 2 Samuel 6:1-5, 12b-19 as he brings the ark of the Lord into Jerusalem with joy, dancing, and praise. Then we turn to Mark’s Gospel 6:14-29, where King Herod’s birthday feast—filled with pride and self-interest—ends in tragedy with the death of John the Baptist.
In his sermon, “Two Parties,” my father explores the difference between celebrations centered on God and those driven by ego and worldly desire. Through vivid imagery and a personal story from a visit to the Taste of Chicago, he challenges us to examine what lies at the heart of our own celebrations.
In my reflection, I share memories of my dad, connections to family traditions, and even an unexpected link to Footloose—all pointing back to one central question:
As we move through our own lives—our gatherings, milestones, and everyday moments—this episode invites us to pause and consider where our focus lies, and how gratitude, faith, and love can transform even the simplest celebration into something sacred.
Thank you for being part of this journey. 💛
In this episode, we reflect on a sermon centered on faith over fear.
Drawing from First Book of Samuel 17:1a, 4-11, 19-23 and the Gospel of Mark 4:35-41, this message explores what it means to trust God in the midst of fear—whether we are facing life’s storms or standing before a giant that feels impossible to overcome.
As I read my father’s sermon, I reflect on how easy it is to panic when life feels overwhelming, and how powerful it is to remember that we are not alone. Just as David trusted God against Goliath, and the disciples were reminded that Jesus was in the boat with them, we are called to shift our focus from what we fear to who we trust.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re drowning in life’s circumstances or facing something that feels too big to handle, this episode is a reminder that God is with you—and you don’t have to face it alone.
In this episode, we reflect on a sermon centered on grace-driven love in action.
Drawing from Psalm 23 and First Epistle of John 3:16-24, this message explores what it means to love one another not just in words, but through our actions—while accepting that we do so imperfectly.
As I read my father’s sermon written on the day of his ordination, I reflect on the pressure we place on ourselves to be perfect, and the freedom that comes from realizing we don’t have to be. God calls us to love, to serve, and to use our gifts—not flawlessly, but faithfully.
If you’ve ever struggled with perfectionism, judgment, or finding it hard to love others the way you feel you should, this episode is a reminder that God is greater than our shortcomings.
In this episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, Jennie Wilson-Moore reads and reflects on a sermon written by her father, Rev. Dr. Kim Wilson, originally preached on May 3, 2009, the Fourth Sunday of Easter.
Drawing from 1 John 3:16–24 and John 10:11–18, this message explores the meaning of love as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep. The sermon reminds us that love is not simply something we speak about—it is something we live out through our actions.
As the Easter season continues, the message challenges believers to move beyond words and to practice love in tangible ways. True faith calls us not only to believe, but to care for those in need, to listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and to respond with compassion and generosity.
Jennie reflects personally on how love expressed through actions shaped her own childhood and parenting, and how the lessons of this sermon continue to resonate today. Through small acts of kindness, forgiveness, and care for others, we begin to live out the love Christ showed the world.
This episode invites listeners to consider how they might put love into action in their own lives and to listen for where God may be calling them to serve.

This Christian podcast episode explores Acts 10:44–48 and John 15:9–17, where Jesus reminds his disciples of a powerful truth: “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” Through these scriptures, we are called to understand God’s love, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and our responsibility to love one another as Christ has loved us.
The sermon focuses on the meaning of being chosen by God, the importance of Christian community, and the calling to bear fruit through love. Jennie reflects on her father’s own journey to ministry and how accepting God’s invitation can shape a life of purpose and faith.

A Daughter’s Journey in Faith is a quiet exploration of faith, scripture, and life through the sermons of a small-town minister.
After her father, Kim Wilson, passed away in 2024, Jennie began reading the sermons he wrote and delivered to a small church in Iowa. What began as a way to help the congregation continue hearing his messages soon became something more personal — an invitation to explore her own faith.
In each episode, Jennie reads the scripture and sermon her father wrote, followed by a short reflection on what stands out to her as she continues her own journey in faith.
This podcast isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about asking questions, noticing themes, and discovering what faith might look like in everyday life.
