Welcome to A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, where Jennie Wilson-Moore reads and reflects on sermons written by her father, Rev. Dr. Kim Wilson, while continuing her own journey of faith.
In this episode, Jennie shares a sermon originally preached on May 10, 2009, the Fifth Sunday of Easter, titled “Bearing Fruit.” The message draws from 1 John 4:7–21 and John 15:1–8, where Jesus teaches that He is the vine and we are the branches.
Through the imagery of gardening and tending a vineyard, the sermon explores what it truly means to “bear fruit” in our lives as followers of Christ. Jennie’s father reflects on lessons from his own grandmother, a lifelong gardener who carefully nurtured her crops and understood the patience and care required to produce good fruit. In the same way, Jesus teaches that our lives must remain connected to Him if we are to produce fruit that truly matters.
The sermon contrasts the temporary fruits of worldly success with the lasting fruit of love, faith, and compassion. True fruit is found in the ways we care for one another—through kindness, generosity, prayer, and small acts of love that reflect God’s presence in our lives.
Jennie also reflects on her family legacy of faith, sharing how the grandmother mentioned in the sermon—her great-grandmother Jennie, whom she was named after—played an important role in shaping her father’s life and faith.
This episode invites listeners to consider how they remain connected to Christ in their daily lives and how even the smallest acts of love can become meaningful expressions of faith.
As you go through your week, Jennie encourages you to do something kind for someone else—whether it’s a smile, a prayer, or an unexpected act of generosity—and experience what it means to truly bear fruit.
In this episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, Jennie Wilson-Moore reads and reflects on a sermon written by her father, Rev. Dr. Kim Wilson, originally preached on April 26, 2009, the Third Sunday of Easter.
Beginning with readings from Acts 3:12–19 and Luke 24:36–48, this message explores the powerful and sometimes surprising relationship between fear and joy. After the resurrection, the disciples experienced both emotions at once as the risen Christ appeared among them and greeted them with the words, “Peace be with you.”
Through this sermon, we are reminded that Christianity is grounded in a real event witnessed and shared across generations—the resurrection of Jesus. As believers, we are called to live in that mystery and to become witnesses ourselves.
Jennie reflects on how fear and joy often walk hand in hand in our own lives—from life’s biggest transitions to everyday worries—and how the peace Christ offered to the disciples can still calm our hearts today.
Even in the midst of life’s chaos, faith invites us to hold onto both the reality of fear and the deeper promise of joy.
In this episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, Jennie Wilson-Moore reads and reflects on a sermon written by her father, Rev. Dr. Kim Wilson, originally preached on April 19, 2009, the Second Sunday of Easter.
Drawing from Psalm 133, Acts 4:32-35, and 1 John 1:1–2:2, the message explores the call for believers to live together in unity, fellowship, and love. Just as Easter marks the beginning of a new chapter for Christians, this sermon reminds us that our work continues in how we treat one another—with grace, kindness, and a shared commitment to Christ.
Through the powerful imagery of “the precious oil of unity,” we are invited to consider how love and fellowship can transform our families, our communities, and our world. Jennie reflects on how unity does not require agreement in everything, but it does call us to treat one another with dignity, respect, and compassion.
As the journey continues, this episode challenges us to begin with small acts of love and kindness in our daily lives.
In this first episode of A Daughter’s Journey in Faith, I share the Easter sermon “He Lives” originally preached in 2009 by my father, Rev. Dr. Kim Wilson.
Through scripture from Psalm 118, 1 Corinthians 15, and John 20, the sermon reflects on the journey from repentance to the empty tomb, and the profound hope found in the words: He lives.
After reading the scripture and sermon, I share a few personal reflections as I begin exploring my own faith through my father’s words.

A Daughter’s Journey in Faith is a quiet exploration of faith, scripture, and life through the sermons of a small-town minister.
After her father, Kim Wilson, passed away in 2024, Jennie began reading the sermons he wrote and delivered to a small church in Iowa. What began as a way to help the congregation continue hearing his messages soon became something more personal — an invitation to explore her own faith.
In each episode, Jennie reads the scripture and sermon her father wrote, followed by a short reflection on what stands out to her as she continues her own journey in faith.
This podcast isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about asking questions, noticing themes, and discovering what faith might look like in everyday life.
