For over 50 years Larry has studied the fascinating subject of UFOs and after taking early retirement he became seriously involved in researching what he likes to refer to as the flying saucer phenomena. He uses the term "flying Saucer" because he finds UFOs all inclusive. To be more precise it is generally accepted that 95% of all UFO sightings are something prosaic and it's the remaining 5% that cannot be explained.

The problem with this is in the statistics. If these statistics are presented to the casual observer the natural thought would be if more research is done on the remaining 5%, they too could be explained. That is a false understanding. The 95% becomes 100% of prosaic sightings and the 5% becomes 100% of true flying saucer sightings.

He is best known as the creator of the Black Vault, a web site that houses thousands of UFO related documents obtained through FOIA from a wide variety of government agencies. He has been the master of ceremonies at many UFO conferences and symposiums in recent years and is one of the leaders in the UFO community.

His new book is Inside the Black Vault: The Government’s UFO Secrets Revealed. It takes us on a journey through the secret world of unidentified aerial phenomena that has plagued the government since the 1940s. Declassified records prove that UFOS are one of the most highly classified subjects. What makes the book interesting is the journey that John took in his efforts to retrieve the documents from various agencies using his expertise in FOIA.

On October 11th, 1973 nineteen-year-old Calvin Parker and his friend forty-two-year-old Charles Hickson were spending a frustrating evening fishing on the Pascagoula River in Mississippi. In the early evening both men were startled when a strange craft descended and hovered a few feet above the ground and just a few yards from their location. Before they had any chance to run, an opening appeared in this craft and out ‘floated’ three humanoid creatures. Both men were absolutely terrified when these creatures grabbed them and took them aboard the craft. On the craft both men were subjected to an examination. Minutes later both Parker and Hickson were dropped back on the riverbank and the craft departed. Taking off in their car the two terrified witnesses eventually located a public telephone and a short time later they were being interviewed at their local sheriff’s office. The two told their story of their close encounter. The next day all hell was let loose as the press descended on this unsuspecting Mississippi town. Parker, seriously disturbed by these events, has largely remained in the background without ever detailing the full account of what happened that night, how it affected him and his life, and other close encounters he has experienced down the years. Now, for the first time, Parker tells his story in Pascagoula – The Closest Encounter, tells the story of one of the classic close encounters currently on record. This book features for the first time the full transcript of Calvin Parker’s hypnotic regression session with the late Budd Hopkins.
