First episode of the new series. I talk about Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). What is it? What causes it? What can we do about it? What are the Red Flag symptoms? I will also talk my own personal experience with IBS and the dangers of self-diagnosis and what can happen when we neglect to act on what our bodies tell us.

This year, for this season, I'll be focussing on how to make our lives better and healthier. I’ll be meeting people who have changed their lives for the better; taking time out for themselves and adopting new lifestyles be it in the forms of diet, meditation yoga and a few other things which I admit I’m sceptical of. On top of that I’ll be trying some of these lifestyle changes to see if there are any real works effects on me.
As well as lifestyles, I’ll be talking more about medical conditions that we often overlook or are too embarrassed to talk about and what happens when we neglect what our bodies are trying to tell us.
And finally there will still be the odd controversial discussions with old and new friends, talking about important topics within medicine.
I’m excited to introduce a new affiliate with the podcast.
Doctors in distress is a wonderful charity founded by Amandip Sidhu who appeared on the show last year. Amandip’s brother was a consultant cardiologist who tragically took his own life as a result of burnout. Doctors in distress is a charity which helps doctors suffering from burnout to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. It is an absolute privilege to be affiliated with this incredible charity and this year we will be working closer together to try and help spread the message to all doctors that there is help available.
Episodes will be launched every 2 weeks

After a long few night shifts, I took to the internet to see what was in the news. It turns out Oxford University have banned clapping. This frustrated me… then after a video on breatharians; talking about how we can live off the sun’s energy and Prana instead of food appeared in my YouTube feed, I decided to have a rant.

I discuss why it’s so easy for us to become addicted to video games and how to recognise the symptoms. I’ll also look at some of the underlying problems that we need to look out for as to why someone has become addicted. Finally, I’ll look at the debate between violence and computer games and give my own thoughts.

A fascinating episode bringing together two prominent advocates for helping those suffering with stress and burnout.
In November 2018 a kind and compassionate cardiologist who excelled in his work and was loved by both patients and colleagues alike sadly, as a consequence of work related burnout tragically took his own life. In August of this year, I published a podcast episode on burnout where I interviewed his brother, Amandip Sidhu who shared his story with the show.

I am once again joined by Amandip who is now an advocate for personal wellbeing and has set up a charity called doctors in distress to not only help doctors suffering from burnout but to help educate employers in how to avoid such tragedies from happening again in the future.
I am also joined by Dr Sonia Hutton-Taylor who is one of the foremost experts in burnout. Sonia has worked at the interface between career/performance and health/wellbeing for 30 years and has assisted some of the most burnt out people on the planet move through burnout effectively and either resume or change their careers.
In 2017 she set up Burnout Geese for all industries - a platform for sharing her unique perspectives on burnout causes and prevention as well as offering thought provoking innovation on burnout resolution.
