At the heels of the critical success of the 2020 film “Promising Young Woman”, I look back at two IRL high profile cases and other fictional media narratives to discuss r*pe culture and the opposing treatment between the “promising” young man and the promising young woman. I also look at the real-life story of Chanel Miller, FKA Emily Doe, the impact of her victim impact statement, and the importance of knowing your name, your story, and your truth.
CONTENT WARNING: The episode deals heavily with discussions of s*xual ass*ult, alcohol consumption, and r*pe culture in general. If any of these subject matters triggers any personal trauma, please take care of yourselves first and skip this episode or come back to it when you’re ready.
