Happy New Year! Don’t you love new things? Me too! In fact, sometimes I feel guilty about it. Revelation 21:5 says “Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.” At the end God is doing the same thing He was doing in the beginning. He truly is the same yesterday, today and forever. It’s what He’s up to right now! He is making all things new. We were created in His image. Maybe that’s why we get so excited about new things! So go ahead, be excited. Get excited! God has new things for you this year…new relationships, new experiences, new mercies, new blessings. Share your excitement with the God who loves making all things new!
We continue our conversation about the new year by considering how thinking about heaven could impact us right now. Scott shares a story of a young pastor who thought he wouldn’t live much longer and began setting aside time each day to think about heaven. God healed him and in his health he continued the practice of meditating on heaven. How can you and I think more on heaven and eternity in our day to day lives?
As the conversation continues on God making all things new Shawna remembers taking a walk with her then 18 month old daughter when something so ordinary caught her daughters attention. She absolutely delighted in a very ordinary thing. At that moment Shawna realized that daily life with a toddler was an opportunity to discover the world all over again through her eyes. All that had become familiar could be strange once again. What if we entered into 2021 with that same spirit of curiosity? What if we engaged in our relationship with God with the same spirit of wonder? Let the familiar verses & truths about who God is become strange once again. He is wonder full!!!! 2021, let’s do this!
