There’s only one perfect father:  Our Abba Father in heaven who speaks life and identity and blessing over us!  We dive into the incredible words the Father speaks over us from Ephesians 1:  We are chosen, adopted, redeemed, given eternal hope and the Holy Spirit as the guarantee of our eternal hope.  Because of what Jesus has done, the Father says to us now and forever: “You are my beloved and in you I am well pleased!”   

Then, if you’re a believer who battles to live into your God-given identity you’re not alone.  Shawna admits that it’s easy to fall into trying to get her identity in what people think of her.  But that identity is so fickle.  Because what people think of us is so fickle.  Our God given, life giving identity is found in Jesus:  The One who loved us and gave himself for us.  It’s a conversation about surrendering our futile attempts to achieve our identity so that we can receive the identity that we long for:  Being the one Jesus loves.   

Next Perry admits that if he’s given a choice between showing his scars and coming off as a Christian hero, it’s so much easier for him to choose the latter.  But that’s not the way of Jesus.  The way of Jesus is boasting in our scars so that others can be healed.  So, Perry takes a risk and brags about his scars!  And finally, Perry and Shawna explore what gospel identity looks like with a quote from Dr. Tim Keller: “If our identity is in our work, rather than Christ, success will go to our heads, and failure will go to our hearts.”  If you’re encouraged, please share!
