The word evangelist can be a scary word when we read it in the Bible. It may send you running in the other direction because you think it is something only someone who studies the Bible or has formal bible training is to be doing. But that is not true. The textbook definition of an evangelist is a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith, especially by public preaching. Look at that first part: a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith. In other words, evangelism is a primary component of the Great Commission, which we are all called to do.

We are not to worry about leaving fame and fortune behind... the only legacy we should concern ourselves with is how many disciples for Christ we make in the time we are on the earth www.aguyandhisbible.com

As we face challenges and trials in our life, are we facing with them with resentment and bitterness or with joy? The Bible makes it clear that our hearts should be joyful when we are faced with suffering and trials. 

2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance James 1:2-3

What does it mean to be a slave to God? How are we to remain loyal to God? Who is James writing this letter too? These questions are covered as we look at the James' greeting in this powerful book of the Bible

Which James wrote this letter? How who was the person behind the letter when it came to upholding The Gospel? How can we use tradition to help us in our witness without letting it take over our goal? These questions are examined as we kick off our study series on the Book of James. 

Acts 15:13-19

After they stopped speaking, James responded “Brothers listen to me. Simeon has reported how God first intervened to take from the Gentiles a people for his name. And the words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written: After these things I will return and rebuild David’s fallen tent. I will rebuild its ruins and set it up again so that the rest of humanity mart seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by my name declared the Lord who makes these known from long ago. Therefore, in my judgement, we should not cause difficulties for those among the Gentiles who turn to God

Have you ever lied to God? This is a brutally honest question we all have to ask ourselves. We may not even see it has lying to God, but whenever we convince ourselves that the show of a sacrifice for God without a follow through of the sacrifice itself, we have lied to God and the Holy Spirit. 

​1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.

7 Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?”

She said, “Yes, for so much.”

9 Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” 10 Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. 11 So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things. Acts 5:1-11
