A Huskies Health returns with my esteemed C-Host, former UConn RB Chris Bellamy. Chris has a hit podcast called All Black Men Need Therapy, which can be found on Spotify, iTunes, Audible, and any other Podcasting platform.
He is an advocate for athletes receiving treatment for mental health issues, as well as anyone who is struggling. We received a litany of questions after last week's episode and Chris answers them all. For the record, he is not a psychologist, therapist, or counselor, Chris is open about his own experiences and bouts of depression he has endured in his life. I am an open book when it comes to everything I have been through.
Our goal is for people, along with athletes, to understand that it's okay to not be okay.
Chris answers questions about kids becoming burnt out with sports, being able to read the room, and parents who may be living vicariously through their superstar athletes at home. We discuss meditation, how Chris was unable to do it early on after numerous tries. It was through a guided meditation for 30 minutes that ended up working for him, and he believes it is very effective for calmness, but to also make time for yourself.
An incredible episode you do not want to miss, where we address many issues and have tough conversations some avoid.
