Hakeem Bradley, our Young Adults Director, continues our series in Philippians chapter four, where Paul encourages the Philippians to replace worry and anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving. Rather than letting anxiety take over, Hakeem encourages us to use it as a prompt to pray - to lay it all down at the feet of Jesus, the prince of peace. 

Dom continues our series in Philippians as Paul urges, “Let your gentleness be evident to all.’ Gentleness is strength under control, as we harness our strength for the good of others with grace and compassion. Jesus is the ultimate example of this as the good shepherd who gently leads His people in power and gentleness. Dom encourages us to pursue gentleness with our minds, our words, and our actions. We are the bride of Christ, called to clothe ourselves in gentleness to show Jesus to a broken world.

Tim shares with us from 2 Peter 1, where Peter encourages us that Jesus has given us absolutely everything we need to walk the life He has called us to. As we saturate ourselves in the scriptures, we grow in knowledge and intimacy with Him. The scriptures are filled with promises that we can stand on, promises and truths about who God is and who He has made us to be. Through them, we can partner with God and participate in His nature. Our call is to make every effort to add to our faith and nurture it to grow and bear much fruit. Tim leads us in a prayer time, reflecting on how we love Jesus, learn the way of Jesus, and live the way of Jesus.

Like soldiers who remain at their station, refusing to budge no matter what, we are encouraged to put our feet in the right place and stand firm in the Lord. We are to stand firm as citizens of heaven, God's soldiers, positioned for God in our spaces in our city.

We all have a story of citizenship, but first and foremost, as followers of Jesus, we are a citizen of heaven. Continuing our series in Philippians, Dom outlines what it means to be a citizen of heaven; to have a new identity, a new calling, and a new politic. We are a new humanity, fellow citizens, being built together as the church to embody the vision, values, and culture of heaven. Being a citizen of the kingdom means our primary allegiance is to the King, and we strive to reflect the heart of the King, the heart of Jesus that beats for the whole world, not just one political party. We are a colony of heaven on earth, called to represent Jesus and be His hands and feet in our communities. 

Dom continues our series in Philippians, encouraging us to be people who desire more of God and pursue Jesus. Paul considered worldly success and accomplishment pale in comparison to knowing and becoming more like Jesus. Paul’s vision was to know and reflect Jesus’ heart and beauty back to the world.
