Hello friends and welcome to another little bonus from your friends here at A Little Independent. However it all worked out, here is a bonus episode for you to cap off Season 1. This should be an episode (and basically is) about the glory that is Keith David. In our second ecologically charged offering and harkening back to the glory days when a cassette tape could drive an entire film, we talk about Men at Work. In this episode, that sees Ryan needing zero notes, as a devotee of this film, Todd shares that he has seven pages of notes, we discuss whether Chalie Sheen is a good actor, Ask whether Google is French, Tood plans and executes questionable shenanigans, Ryan waxes maudlin about Vision Video again, we definitely decide Charlie Sheen isn’t a tall black man, we share our hard feelings on Emelio’s dreamy blue eyes, Todd at the beginning of the episode (at only 18 minutes in) issues a significant challenge to you all and we realize that we are the biggest dorks in the 10th grade class, we suppose. Thank you so much for listening to our show and watching these cool and crazy movies. Keep listening for an upcoming update on Season 2 and our future plans for an ALI board game….or line of low fat salad dressings. Email us your thoughts on climate-change, nuclear waste disposal or anything else at [email protected]
Aloha movie friends! This is the greatest day of your life, you just don’t know it yet. When we conceived of this podcast, there were a few guiding lights; North stars if you will. We say this name in reverence quite often on this show and we’ve referenced this film countless times. We live this film and celebrate this filmmaker unequivocally. The name is Sidaris and the film is Hard Ticket to Hawaii. This is a filmmaker and film, so special to Todd and Ryan that it had to be shown a place of honor and given the best possible respect and treatment. This is true reverence, people. And as podcast milestones go, ALI has gotten so very lucky and remain beside ourselves, to include an interview with the one and only Arlene Sidaris, Producer of this film and so many important films to the hosts and this podcast. We cannot thank Arlene and her team enough for her time with us, her dedication to the film industry, independent or otherwise, and for gifting us ALL of the beautiful things that this movie gives us. Forgive us the audio on the interview (Zoom times) So, here is your new favorite movie of all time and words from someone very special to the humans on this show. Anyone related to this film or the series, please get at us; we promise, we’re not stalkers. Well, one of us at least [email protected] And please visit the Andy Sidaris website for amazing items and insight. Hello friends of movies odd and small and all things strange. Let’s get this out of the way. We love you. We are very thankful that you listen to our show and we hope you get something positive from every listening experience. No jokes. No quip. Just honesty from us Midwestern nerds. Here we have an episode that yet again, peels back more and more layers from our hosts and we give and give, possibly to a fault. We leave it all on the floor here. Our movie is another “movie about making movies” (see how MUCH we LOVE movies???) and we again, swear we are not stalking William H. Macy, but here again he is. In this episode, that we think features our sexiest segue into the movie title ever, we discuss our VERY different Pulp Fiction theater experiences, Ryan shares how much he hates word-shortening, Todd shares his favorite way to stand/pose nude, A really, really good Perfect Strangers reference goes tragically unnoticed, Ryan nearly is destroyed by Todd’s “weird hand thing”, Todd confuses our lead actress with a Jason Statham action movie and we wonder why Meg Ryan is on airplanes so much. If you have something to tell us, want us to do an episode in your native language or have a way to get Todd onto a bicycle, please email us at [email protected] Green light this! #waitwait #arewerolling #montedoroforever #thelunchroom #muchosexy #latitude #congrats #bulkybartokomous #themeg
Hello Independents! Everyone messes up and so have we. Well, we did it back a long way, so I guess you can call this a lost/salvaged episode. We wanted to give out a little bonus for waiting so long between episodes while we got our shit (more) together. Anyway, we had some audio issues and got it as fixed up as we can. Let us say, our intentions are always positive and good. The product is a bit different this time but trust us…This movie rules! Have some fun with this one and forgive us for the quality. [email protected]
Hello Independents (can we annex that from Firefly?) and yes, it has been a minute. It has been several. But trust us, we’ve been working and working towards some cool stuff. But in doing so, we’ve recorded some real doozies and have something coming up that, if you’re wearing socks, will knock them off. But here we have what we love most. An episode and a movie that asks the hard questions like: Remember Menudo and music videos? In this episode we also find out the reason why Todd hates George Carlin, Ryan shares recipe tips from the 80’s, Ryan admits to never having chicken and waffles, we put an end to the boxers versus briefs argument, we have our first on air hug, this may be our strangest bad review yet???? And we show a movie that should be on all radars, regardless of your interest in Ninja Bitches. So, remember, you get this episode and all episodes “on spec” and if you have something to tell us, want us to pose nude or have a way to get Todd onto a bicycle, please email us at [email protected] Let’s get into trouble, baby! Hello friends and lovers of all movies not shitty. Once again, this week’s episode comes to you, our friends, with special energy behind it. The point of this show is to celebrate independent cinema and all who make and support such films. Well, we got to meet a bona fide filmmaker here in our community and we are so excited to share…that he’s been a tremendous person to us. He’s shared some of his story in his journey in making this film and is a super kind and passionate person. His film is Marqueetown. It is the story of a local’s quest to restore the arthouse cinema of his youth to its former glory. This leads the filmmakers to discover a hidden cinema empire in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Joseph Beyer and his team have made something very special, and we are so happy to support his work and everyone who worked on this film. Check out one of several screenings happening throughout the region and support this film where you can. Oh yeah, and there’s an episode here where we learn why Todd counted every time the word “the” was said in this film, Ryan adds another layer of hell to his security blanket and Clarice admits that Precious is fine. The broken leg thing was just a ruse to escape the well. Hello devotees of beautiful and purest cinema. This week’s episode comes to us all with special energy behind it. Oh yeah, and there’s an episode here where Ryan finally stops talking about HDTGM and Todd gets a pedicure on air. Maybe. Thank you so much for supporting this film, Jason Mantzoukas and our little podcast. Movie friends. To quote the movie: “We are in this.” It’s getting hot in here, so take off all your sweatpants’. This episode promises the most bonkers intro yet (you actually get two of them) and if you are for some reason still sad about not having any type of special someone for that most vapid of holiday’s, Valentine’s Day…Here is a film for YOU. The takeaway from this film? Go it alone. Just make a life for you AND YOU ALONE. We know there is an obvious star in The Disappearance of Alice Creed, but the true star is Eddie Marsan. This episode also features: our filthiest moment yet; Ryan’s “Man Card” is stripped away yet again; we go hard on Greece (you guess which one); Todd has a headache; we discuss pegging, strippers and werewolves (not necessarily all related), we feature our most intense and inspiring clip, we break down a naked side-kick choke out; Ryan reveals more phobias and Todd obsesses over the Isle of Man. Is it a strip club? Listen to find out. Enjoy a movie that had to have stretched the effectiveness of any modesty wear in film. Please let us know the show is too long or order any amount of custom merch from Todd, because apparently that is what we do now. Hello friends, Independent, attached or otherwise! We are feeling so thankful at this moment that you are here with us, watching and listening and are hopefully hungry. Or you will be because we are talking about pizza, and the appropriate ways to say it. Head’s up, one of us is INTOLERANT to word abbreviation. In an episode that concludes Ryan’s tribute to the acting talents of his HDTGM heroes, we are talking about Slice. About a movie that shows you that werewolves can also be bad drivers, we talk about, the best kind of junkie, Todd shares his dating tips (Ladies, hope you like McDonald’s), Ryan changes his name to Zazie, we guess at Prince’s body hair situation, share compelling stories about our buttholes, miss the days of movies that had theme songs, Todd has a spiritual crisis, we hope Gaffigan doesn’t sue us and promise we will NEVER, ever eat on an episode. Should we have a camera? Should we keep day-drinking? Should we do the show on crystal meth? Email us. And Detroit pizza is best…Whether you are undead or not. [email protected]

Hello movie friends and here is our disclaimer right out of the gate. We seem to think this is our most sexually charged episode yet. If that is not for you…You should listen anyway. This episode we are excited for a new year, we are excited for the episode and are happy to be doing a nice light-hearted kidnapping movie. Take Me is a movie that, by the director’s own admission is so short that “by the time you figure out it sucks, it’s over.” Happily, this episode is 3 times the length of the film. Here we love on those Duplass Brothers again and find that Chicago is that hot, steamy breeding ground for Indie films! In this episode we also discuss, the greatest love story ever captured on film (no, it’s not in this movie), the dubious circumstances of Todd’s conception, pop stars and shopping malls, the brilliance of Three’s Company, the best cereal, Tood shares a harrowing story from his Private Investigator days and high end toupee making. Is there a high-end black market for toupees? Is it dangerous? Can we handle a lawsuit right now? These questions are discussed and more. In an episode that may be a “high-end” simulation and has our most oomph and Motley Crue references yet, we ask if Ryan is a cyborg or just really hyper and can we get more music in movies like this please? Thank you so much for listening and please share with a friend. Or an army if you command one. That would help bump our listeners up [email protected] #waitwait #arewerolling #montedoroforever #thelunchroom #goodnightirene #justicefortaylor #pullingtherug #sweetsweetali #cyborgryan #shitters #firethegun #oomph
