Did you know that emotional intelligence, not academic achievement, is the best predictor of “success” in adulthood?
This episode stemed from the milestone of my oldest child starting Kindergarten. It is honest, from my heart and (of course) a bit vulnerable.
I share the values I think we as parents should be emphasizing (far beyond academic achievement) so that our children develop into resilient, socially and emotionally healthy human beings. When it comes to parenting I am no expert but being a therapist has allowed me to gain insight around the types of values that seem to fuel children towards or away from mental and emotional health. My hope is that, as I share the types of values that I think nourishes children towards wholeness and health you feel a bit more free, and a bit less bogged down by the stuff the less significant stuff!
