CHAPTER TWO
By the gifts’ perfecting—Eph. 4:11-13.

No longer being little children—v. 14:Tossed by waves.

Carried about by every wind of teaching:In the sleight of men.
In craftiness with a view to a system of error.

But holding to truth in love—v. 15a:God’s New Testament economy—God’s eternal plan.
The all-inclusive Christ.
The church as the Body of Christ expressing Christ.

Growing up into the Head, Christ, in all things—v. 15b:Being subject to the Head, Christ.
Allowing Christ’s divine life to expand and increase into all of our inward parts.

Out from the Head, all the Body causes the growth of the Body of Christ—v. 16a:Through every joint of the rich supply—all the particular gifts in the Body of Christ.
Through the operation in the measure of each one part—every member in the Body of Christ.
All the Body fitted and knit together—practically being built up together.

The Body of Christ building itself up in love—v. 16b:In love.
A direct building.

January 11, 2023 CHAPTER SIX SHEPHERDING AND TEACHING— THE OBLIGATION OF THE VITAL GROUPS THE BASIC WAY ORDAINED BY GOD IN THE BUILDING UP OF THE BODY OF CHRIST TO CONSUMMATE HIS ETERNAL GOAL— THE NEW JERUSALEM
In Christ’s ministry for carrying out God’s eternal economy:
Shepherding outwardly:Seeking the lost sheep for His rejoicing and the joy in heaven—Luke 15:4-7.
For the reaping of God’s harvest—Matt. 9:36-38.

For the care of God’s flock:To be the door in and the door out for God’s elect—John 10:2-5.
For their salvation and nourishment (the pasture) that they may have His life and have it abundantly through His giving up of His human life as the good Shepherd—vv. 9-15, 17-18.
Flocking them together as one flock—one church—v. 16.
As the Chief Shepherd shepherding through the elders of the churches—1 Pet. 5:4.
As the great Shepherd through whom God, based upon His redeeming blood of the eternal covenant, perfects the sheep of God, the churches, in every good work for the doing of His will, doing in us that which is well pleasing in His sight—Heb. 13:20-21.
Shepherding the sheep led astray and returned to Him, overseeing their inward condition as the Overseer of their souls (1 Pet. 2:25). This should be a part of His inward comforting of the believers as follows.

Comforting inwardly:Becoming the Spirit of reality as the second Comforter—John 14:16-17a; 15:26.
To constitute the divine organism, the incorporation of the processed and consummated Triune God with His regenerated and transformed elect—14:17b-20.

Teaching to strengthen the shepherding and reach its goal:
In Matthew:Concerning the constitution of the kingdom of the heavens—chs. 5—7.
Concerning the mysteries of the kingdom—ch. 13.
Concerning the manifestation of the kingdom—chs. 24—25.

In John:Concerning the flowing Triune God to be the living water for the enjoyment of the believers in Christ—chs. 1—7.
Concerning the mingling and the incorporation of the processed and consummated Triune God with His regenerated and transformed elect and the issues—chs. 14—17.
All these divine and mystical teachings of our great Shepherd and Comforter are not only His unveiling and enlightening but also His nourishing to us for our growth and maturity in His divine life that the eternal economy of God may be consummated through us.

The Christ in resurrection:
The Christ in His incarnation:To bring God into man, making God and man one.
To live in the human life to express God, especially to express the attributes of God in His human virtues.
To accomplish the all-terminating and all-redeeming death to close His ministry in His incarnation.

The Christ in His resurrection:Through His death Christ entered into His resurrection to carry out His ministry in the stage of His inclusion.
Through all the believers in Him as His Body to accomplish God’s eternal economy.

The commission of Christ:After Christ entered into His resurrection from the stage of His incarnation into the stage of His inclusion, He remained among His apostles for forty days to prepare them for carrying out His heavenly ministry in His resurrection—Acts 1:2-3.
At the close of His forty days’ preparation of the apostles, He gave them His great commission.
With all authority in heaven and on earth given to Him—Matt. 28:18.

The eleven apostles received the great commission of Christ not only as apostles but also as disciples—v. 16:To disciple the nations and teach them the teachings of Christ—vv. 19-20.
To proclaim the gospel to all the creation—Mark 16:15.
To proclaim repentance for forgiveness of sins—Luke 24:47.
To witness a resurrected Christ appointed by God to be the Lord and Christ (Messiah), the anointed One of God, and to be the Leader and Savior—Acts 2:32-36; 5:30-32.
To witness Christ, to magnify Christ, to display Christ—22:15.
To save and gather in all of God’s chosen people from Jerusalem through Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth—all the world, all the nations—1:8; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47.

BY THE GIFTS’ PERFECTING
By His death and resurrection Christ has conquered Satan and death and has rescued man from the enslaving of Satan. In His ascension He made these redeemed sinners the gifts through His resurrection life and gave them to the Body that they would do the perfecting work on the saints unto the building up of the Body of Christ. When I was first saved, I did not know anything. I did not know how to read the Bible or how to pray. At most, I had a heart to seek after the Lord and to love the Bible. Praise the Lord that through His riches in His ascension, the ascended Head gained a group of people from His redeemed ones and constituted them the gifts, putting them in the church to perfect us. There are the apostles who raise up churches and define doctrines. There are the prophets who speak for God and speak forth God. There are the evangelists who preach Christ to save sinners. There are the shepherds and teachers who supply life and teach the truth. When we are in the church life attending all the meetings time after time according to the way revealed by the Bible, spontaneously we are perfected in many ways. Gradually, we learn to understand the Bible, we pick up a taste for it, and we find ourselves getting into its riches. We also find ourselves preaching the gospel, feeding and teaching others, prophesying for the Lord, and speaking the Lord into others.

We should be faithful to the Lord. What we are doing here is absolutely according to the truth of the Bible. By leading and perfecting others, we make everyone an evangelist, a shepherd and teacher, and a prophet who speaks the Lord forth and who speaks the Lord into others. We also make everyone an apostle who knows the revelation, is able to preach the gospel of Christ, can lead the sinners to Him, can raise up a small meeting to express the Lord, and can even define doctrines, release the truth, perfect the saints, and build up the Body of Christ. As a result, the church will be full of apostles, prophets, evangelists, and shepherds and teachers. This is the church that the Lord is after.
