I have a collection of go-to stories produced by students that I regularly play in class at the Transom Story Workshop. The stories are well-produced, well-told, and tend to prompt questions — questions about writing, field recording, narrative, and ethics. Dyana, Goddess of the Moose Hunt by Jamie Yuenger falls into the ethics category.

Wait until you hear what Jamie did in order to “get the story.” I don’t want to give it away here — you’ll have to listen — but, I think you’ll find yourself saying “Whoa, would I do that?!” At the same time, you’ll be amazed at the tape she got that she couldn’t possibly of recorded if she’d “followed the rules.”
