Renee is a world citizen with Scandinavian ancestry, she grew up in a remote village in the highlands of Papua New Guinea and now lives in the Unceeded St’at’mic Territory in British Columbia. Renee has a life-long passion of exploring the food preparation rituals of everyone she meets and began her ‘official’ studies into human physiology and culture 30 years ago, studying the craniums of our ancient hominid ancestors. Darcia Narvaez, Professor Emerita of Psychology, University of Notre Dame, researches moral development and human flourishing from an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating anthropology, neuroscience, clinical, developmental and educational sciences. Her earlier careers include professional musician, business owner, classroom music teacher, classroom Spanish teacher and seminarian, among other things. She grew up as a bilingual/bicultural Puerto Rican but calls the earth her home. Dr. Narvaez’s current research explores how early life experience influences wellbeing and moral character in children and adults. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association and former editor of the Journal of Moral Education. She is on the advisory boards of Attachment Parenting International, Kindred, Your Whole Baby, and the Self Reg Institute.  She has numerous publications, including more than 20 books such as Indigenous Sustainable Wisdom: First Nation Know-how for Global Flourishing; Basic Needs, Wellbeing and Morality: Fulfilling Human Potential and Embodied Morality: Protectionism, Engagement and Imagination. A recent book, Neurobiology and the Development of Human Morality: Evolution, Culture and Wisdom won the 2015 William James Book Award from the American Psychological Association and the 2017 Expanded Reason Award. Veronique was an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Obstetrics at the New Hampshire-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency program before changing careers to retrain as a Somatic Therapist at Naropa University. She integrates findings from diverse fields of research into a new paradigm for making sense of chronic illness. This paradigm is informed by training in pre and perinatal psychology with Myrna Martin, training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), exploration through personal, developmental, relational and other trauma work to understand her asthma and disabling chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), and testing the possibilities for healing and recovery from this new lens. Jonathan graduated from the British College of Osteopathy and Naturopathy with a 1st Class honours in Osteopathic Medicine and a Diploma in Naturopathy. Since then he has practised as an osteopath in New Zealand and Australia working in both rural and metropolitan clinics.

His teaching experience began in New Zealand both through mentoring associates and through teaching on the osteopath program at UNITEC in Auckland during 2005 and 2006.

Carey Benenson Taussig D.O. (IT) is an Osteopathic practitioner, professor, and certified graduate of Boston University and the College d’Etudes Osteopathique (CAN.) Teaching and working both in Italy and in the U.S., she is also an affiliate of the of the national Italian society ROI (Registro degli Osteopati d’Italia.) She first made her mark as an educator when her biodynamic visceral manipulation program was featured by Bastyr University in 2016. At that time, she was also published in the National Publication, Massage Magazine, and was recognized for creating a synergetic fusion between the biodynamics and the traditional philosophies originally established by the late 19th century bone setters and grandfathers of Osteopathy and visceral manipulation including the Founder, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still as well as Dr. Barber and more.

In her teachings she brings in the component of asking the viscera which body the strain is imprinted upon within the three bodies. This three-body concept was originally recognized in traditional Osteopathic teachings where it is taught that we have three bodies: the structural body, fluidic body, and electromagnetic body. She teaches also about the space inbetween the bodies where we can journey beyond the matter to invite or be invited to dialogue with matter in different phases of life and development. This often allows opportunity to shed the ancestral strains that can be translated through the generations through the ground matter and through the grid of the DNA.

Having also a science background, Carey helps the student keep their feet rooted in the anatomy offering the possibility to experience the liquid state of the continuum and the constant of energy in her teachings. With this, she stays footed in the anatomy and in her classes, she outlines the influence of the artery, capsule, tissue, scar tissue, vessels and nerves that can have a primary influence on the functionality of the organ (dense) or viscera (hollow organ.) The matter and the position of the structures count in their functionality potential.

At the same time, Carey refers often to the poetry in nature as a way to mirror in a true reference point to maintain the fulcrum without exhaust. She acknowledges the power of the visceral spine being more influential at times then the vertebral spine and lectures on the resonance potential of certain key point structures to maintain the tidal patterns of homeostasis.

Carey is highly intuitive, studied also with grand master physicians and practitioners worldwide and has studied extensively with the Native American Church. She is known for her extensive work with some of the most complicated cases involving the brain and nervous system, the heart, autoimmune disorders, chronic and acute pain as well as her extensive understanding and experience in.

Dr. Adré J. du Plessis, M.B.Ch.B., is a full-time attending in prenatal neurology, as well as the Director of the Prenatal Pediatrics Institute, Division Chief of Prenatal and Transitional Pediatrics, and Director of the Prenatal Brain Program at Children's National Hospital. In addition, Dr. du Plessis is a Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at George Washington University School of Medicine.

He is a leading international expert in the normal and abnormal development of the brain, as well as the mechanisms of injury to the immature brain. Under his leadership, the Prenatal Pediatrics Institute provides individualized and specialized care to patients during and after the baby’s birth.

Dr. du Plessis specializes in prenatal neurology, particularly fetal brain developmental anomalies and the advanced fetal imaging that is used to diagnose these conditions in early pregnancy. His career-long research focus has been on the nervous system of the fetus and newborn, the hazards and mechanisms of injury, and the potential prevention of insult to the brain.

Dr. Marilyn R Sanders is a board-certified pediatrician and neonatologist who cares for critically ill babies, infants, and their families at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Hartford, CT. Dr. Sanders did her pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and her fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Johns-Hopkins School of Medicine. She is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She also provides neurodevelopmental follow-up for babies and infants up to 3 years old. Her scholarly interest is providing trauma-informed care to hospitalized newborns, infants, young children, and their families. Her focus is the impact of the autonomic nervous system’s sense of safety, danger, or life threat on our emotions and behavior. She lectures throughout the United States and Europe. She has authored papers and book chapters on trauma-informed care for young infants, children, and their families in the hospital setting. Dr Sanders is currently under book contract with WW Norton and Company. Her book, The Polyvagal Theory and the Developing Child, to be published in July 2021, discusses implications of the Polyvagal Theory, for the well-being and development of infants, children, and adolescents.

Dr. Price received a  Bachelor in Behavioral Science from the University of Maryland, followed  by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University. She  completed her graduate degree at the University  of Cincinnati, graduating with a Master of Nursing in Midwifery, and a  post-Masters certificate in Global Women’s Health.  She received her  Executive Doctorate in Nursing from The Johns Hopkins University, with a  research focus on Change Leadership. Dr. Price  served as President of the American College of Nurse-Midwives in  Virginia, and serves as a board member for the March of Dimes and Ronald  McDonald House, as well as on state maternal mortality and perinatal  quality boards. She was nominated for Birth Advocate  of the Year in 2015 and for Global Women’s Health leader in 2018. In  2017, she won the prestigious Monarch Award for Innovation in Nursing.

Originally from Holland,  Dr. Price trained in New Zealand, and has worked in women’s and  children’s health clinically and as an administrator for more than 30  years. Dr. Price currently serves as the Chief Operating  Officer for the TriStar Centennial Women’s Hospital, and for the  Children’s Hospital at TriStar Centennial in Nashville. This year, she  was named a ‘2020 Woman to Watch’ by Nashville Medical News.

Dr. Price is a regular  speaker on respectful maternity care, and has published numerous  articles, as well as a recent book chapter on Women’s Voice in maternal  health. Her passion and expertise surrounding consent,  and her unique perspective as a Nurse-Midwife and hospital  administrator make her an expert on the patient experience for women of  childbearing age. Dr. Price works within her corporation and with other  organizations on a state and national level to improve  outcomes for women and children, and to increase access to respectful  woman-centered care.

In this podcast, we discuss Dr. Price's weight loss journey. She has been able to go from a size 22 to a size 8, and has a goal of a BMI below 25. Once nearly 300 pounds, she has documented her weight loss journey on social media. She encourages people to reach out to her there, and to document their hikes to lose weight with #hikeitoff. 

In 1990, Bob Lehnberg received his certification as Practitioner of Body-Mind Centering® (BMCsm) and in 2002 Teacher of Body-Mind Centering. Since then Bob has received teacher certifications for BMC Yoga, Integral Yoga and Supreme Science of Qigong. He has been teaching in schools of massage therapy and programs of somatic training since 1990 and has had the good fortune to teach BMC and somatic practices throughout the US and internationally in Europe, Canada, China, and Taiwan.

Bob is a co-founder of Kinesthetic Learning Center in Durham, NC and has been on faculty teaching and coordinating the BMC Somatic Movement Educator (SME) and Practitioner certification programs since 2007. He is coordinator of SME courses for Esprit en Mouvement in Montreal, Canada and is Co-director of the SME program in Taitung, Taiwan.

He is offering courses that bring together qigong and embryology, a time in healing earliest experiences that can be very fruitful. I wrote about this saying, Sometimes You Gotta Go Back To Go Forward, a saying that Bob shared with me from his teacher, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. The embryological movement sequences he teaches allow us to go back before the trauma and fully embody our whole selves. His healing work that combines energy, movement, ancient tradition and embryology is a wonderful mix that is healing and stimulating.
