Vida is a second-generation homeschooler and a passionate advocate for a parent's right and ability to teach their children. She is a writer and writing coach as well as a homeschool consultant for both families and companies, helping families find their unique groove with homeschooling and helping businesses meet homeschoolers' needs.

They are a charter school which means that they are public but offer both classroom-based and non-classroom-based education options.

Corey McKeown is the owner and Director of Trinity Homeschool Academy (T.E.A.C.H) in Tampa, FL. TEACH is a homeschool Co-Op that provides academic and enrichment classes and activities for homeschoolers in the Tampa Bay Area. TEACH had just under 500 homeschool students who attend weekly classes all taught by high-level instructors and career professionals in their subject area.

Our guests today are Stephen & Jacky Souders of MYTEK LAB. They are also Mr. D Math partners!

 

Stephen has worked in the field of information technology since he was 15 years old when he began his career by working for an ISP while still in high school. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from Florida Gulf Coast University and a master's degree in Computer Information Systems from Kennesaw State University.

 

Over the years, Stephen has worked specifically in the web development field, managed an Information Technology department, and taught classes at Georgia Highlands College for over 6 years.

 

Jacky has over 15 years of experience teaching kids of all ages and a degree in early childhood education from Edison State College (now Florida SouthWestern State College). Over the years, Jacky has worked as an Early Childhood Education teacher, managed After School Programs, and been a stay-at-home mom.

 

Together, Stephen and Jacky not only run and manage MYTEK LAB, they also homeschool both of their daughters' ages 13 and 12 years old.

Becki and Seth Hogan are 2 of our Mr. D Math teachers. Today they join us to share their journey as homeschool parents and teachers.

Chico Jones is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and was a KC-10 pilot prior to teaching. Currently, he teaches Pre-Algebra through Algebra 2 with Mr. D and Algebra, Logic, Philosophy, and World Religions at Chula Vista Christian University. He lives in San Clemente, CA with his wife and three kids where he loves to surf.

Emily Gustafson is a freshman at California Baptist University majoring in Psychology with a Minor in ASL. Growing up, Emily was a military child and moved around every few years. Because of this, she was homeschooled from middle school through high school.

 

In fact, Emily was a Mr. D Math student all the way through and it was a perfect program for her! After finishing she then joined the team as a teacher’s assistant and continues to grow with our Mr. D Math family!

Lourdes Michael is a special guest because she is part of the Mr. D Math Homeschool team. She is married to her best friend, Tom, and is blessed with three amazing children all of whom have been homeschooled. They all have had Mr. D as their teacher. Currently, her youngest child is participating in Mr. D’s online geometry class while taking a year-long road-schooling trip around the United States. 

 

In addition to being a homeschool mom, Lourdes has a master’s in education and is certified to teach Pre-K–3, Health-K–12, Physical Education K-12, and ESOL. Lourdes has taught in the public, private, and online educational arenas. She has over 27 years of teaching experience and is still passionate about working with children and their families.

Evelyne is a former Mr. D Math student who graduated this past May. She is currently studying Communications Studies at a private, local university. She spent her homeschool career traveling across the country as a military brat, exploring her hobbies of history and writing. She holds an impressive resume for her young age. She wrote two one-act plays that were produced in 2018 and 2021. In addition, she is currently working on her first novel.
