Welcome to our voting information episode! This week our hosts are discussing Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince off of Taylor Swift's 7th album Lover! Due to the nature of this song and the fast-approaching voter registration deadlines, we decided to dedicate a portion of this episode to answering common questions about voting- including how you can vote, why your vote matters, and why voting for Biden isn't quite as depressing as it seems. 

Don't worry though, we still have plenty to discuss unrelated to voting this episode! We discuss all kinds of Taylor news this week, including new merch items, her nemesis talking about her again, grammy predictions, and more! First of all, big apology for being late uploading this episode, Elena edits the podcast and she had a busy weekend! Don't worry though, we're back and ready to talk about New Romantics, a fan favorite bonus track off of Taylor Swift's 1989 album! As usual, we went over some Taylor news, including some new charting records, and played our little game of the week: who said it, Kermit the Frog or Taylor Swift?

We get deep into discussion about New Romantics, breaking down lyric throwbacks, production, and ties to the Lakes! We also get sidetracked (as usual) talking about album cohesivity and how New Romantics ended up as a bonus track. More talk about album rollouts and Jack Antonoff production. The gals are back and ready to review Taylor Swift's newest release from her Folklore album: The Lakes bonus track! As usual, we went over the Taylor news, including discussing the release of signed items, and played a little game in celebration of Lover's 1 year anniversary! 

During our discussion of the Lakes, we talked about social media discourse, the Romantic era, flower symbolism, and some of our favorite lyrics! We also came up with some music video concepts, and talked about some of the controversy surrounding Taylor releasing The Lakes on digital before everyone had gotten their CDs. 

PS: there is a little background noise in this one because our roommates were in the same room while we recorded the second half and Elena was trying very hard to quietly eat some soup while recording. She's very sorry, she was super hungry. Bonus points to anyone who can catch the soup eating sounds!

We talk about new Taylor merch, a tiny bit about the Lakes release, and Taylor's tweets in defense of the USPS! For our little game of the week, we dive into another one of our obsessions: Twilight! We matched up Taylor Swift songs to our favorite Twilight characters! It was super fun, and if you're like Stephanie and don't know much about Twilight you might learn something new!  For our song of the week, we covered This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things off of Taylor's Reputation album! We discussed the Kimye drama that provides the backdrop to this song, as well as what we loved about the song and the aesthetics!

Exciting news!!! Our two hosts are finally in the same space (don't worry, we have an apartment together so we're still staying safe on corona lockdown)! This was new territory for us so please give us a little leeway with the wacky energy of this episode. We're still really excited to be in the same room as one another.
