The negation of the negation is a literary term but one that I see reflected in the real world far too often. With this lesson, I not only explain why this phrase means but how you might be a primary culprit of it. And if you are… YOU NEED TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. I’ll explain why. Thanks for tuning in.

The barrier to entry as a content is basically nonexistent given technology and social media. And as a content creator you NEED to understand those platforms! You must. It might feel intimidating to think that you now have to focus on writing, acting, filming, editing, publishing AND marketing… BUT if you do, you’re the one in control. No more having to rely on ANYONE else! That’s an incredible thought. However, not enough content creators are taking advantage of it. Trust me, I know from personal experience. I know from even watching my close friends. Utilize all the platforms and MAKE MORE CONTENT! Why? Because if you’re a content creator, shouldn’t you want to make more things anyway? I hope you find this useful. Feel free to ask my any questions or offer some of your thoughts. And for more free resources from your 360 creative coach, check out my website at http://philsvitek.com.

Everyone makes mistakes, even the greatest minds in the world. In this post, I showcase Bob Iger, who is Disney’s current CEO and has been for over 15 years. But before this, he ran ABC and made a decision which he regrets. He talks about it at length in his book The Ride of a Lifetime. What was this so-called “mistake” and what did he learn from it? Find out… As for why am I doing this? Is it to poke fun at him? To chop him down to size? No. My aim is for us to see that A) he’s human, just like the rest of us and therefore EACH of us is capable of greatness, B) mistakes can never define your legacy if you choose not to have them define you and C) the lessons you learn from mistakes can propel you towards that greatness you see. I’ve been gearing up to write more in the new year and because of that, I’ve been thinking of ways to make my stories more compelling. One of the things I thought of was to figure out what the climax of my story would be—the point at which there’s the most tension. Then, take that and start writing and never look back. Sure, there’s fiction (whether books or movies) that utilize the technique of showing the climax but they then jump to sometime earlier so you can see the events leading up to it. My idea is to not do that. Go forward. The thinking is: how much more interesting can you make your story when you start with the maximum emotion. It’s a way to force yourself to make it as riveting as possible. Stephen King was a jumping off point for this idea, but so was TV writer Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul). In this post, I go further with this idea and implore you to use it as a creative exercise in your storytelling (whether novels, films, TV shows, narrative podcasts, etc). Feel free to ask me any questions or offer some of your thoughts. And for more free resources from your 360 creative coach, check out my website at http://philsvitek.com.
In this segment, I react to various news and/or real world issues. And with this post, I chose to discuss privacy concerns. By no means am I an expert but that won't stop me from offering my two cents. If nothing else, my goal is to spark a conversation so that I can learn and we can both dive deeper into the core issues at hand. So please, let me know your thoughts in the comments or on social (@PhilSvitek). And for more free resources, tips, etc, visit my website: http://philsvitek.com.
